You, Queen fans, are the most luckiest people in the world, to have seen them live with Freddie Mercury in the 70's and 80's. I would have done anything... :((((((((

The first time i saw them, was december 8th, in The Hague, Holland, in the congresgebouw, as a support to Mott the Hoople in 1974. There were hardly any peope there, as nobody in Holland new any of the bands, and there were people on the streets and markets that were giving away tickets for free, to have at least some people there for the bands. 200-250 max where there then. I was 11 years, and didn't understand one thing of it, but i loved it. My father was at that time quit a famous person in Holland, and was in Hilversum at the AVRO studios to do a radioshow. We as a family came along, and it was then and there in the AVRO toppop studio i saw them again in that same december of 1974, merely 3 weeks after their show in The Hague, when they were filming the clip for Killer Queen. Then after that i saw them another 95 times with Freddie, 4x with Paul, and also a lot of soloshows from the bandmembers i did see through the years. It was fab to have been there. From all i posess in my Queencollection, the untouchable things i cherish most: my memories...of all the shows and personal encounters i had with the band and all around them...the travelling, the people i met...the places i've been...THOSE memories are my most precious queen-"items". After Freddie died, i discovered this german super Queen coverband "MayQueen" (www.mayqueen.de) and invited hem as headliners for my first aids awareness concert day, The Tilburg Tribute on November 14th, 1993, and as there was no more Queen to follow, i went to see them 115 times untill now...they are with distance the best queen coverband on the planet, and they proved that at this years convention in Prestatyn Sands.
If you never were so lucky to see Queen, i most certainly can recommend this band to you, for an experience quit similar to the real thing. Also "Dios Salva A La Reina" (god save the queen) from Brasil are absolutely fab. This band has a Freddie-klone! Go out ad see them! If you organise a Queen-day or so, invite them for it, and you'll have a hit!

I saw them for the first time in 1978 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City,MO. It was my first concert and I was already a huge fan so I was in heaven even though I was sitting way up in the rafters. One of the things I remember most was how Freddie was just all over the stage constantly in motion. The other thing was before the show I could see this small drumset suspended over the lighting rig and I wondered what in the heck is that up there for. I found out later that it was a mini stage for the acoustic section of the show. I have to say my favorite show was in 1980 during The Game tour. I was sitting much closer and was pretty much obsessed with Queen by then. I haven't change much in that regard.

Saw them on all tours from Races to Hot Space. For my money, they were at their peak as a rock band in the late 70s. With the advent of sequencers and the intro of drum triggers and synths into their live sets around the Works tour, their sound became tighter, but a bit too polished for my liking.
