So was Freddie... although he didn't drop out of high school, but he did drop out of college.
Yet no criticisim of either one for pursuing music careers that worked out quite successfully.
In many ways Tom Hamilton is as guilty of getting throat cancer as Freddie is guilty of getting AIDS. Both musicians played with fire by under estimating the risks of living a certain lifestyle that put their lives in danger.
I truly wish Tom Hamilton recovers from this, but I also hope this is a lesson for him.

I have to shake my head and laugh at people who get things like lung cancer after smoking for years and then act all surprised. The research is out there people....the warnings are on the box....you had the choice to light up your first one, knowing full well what might happen, before you gave the nicotine a chance to addict you. I only feel sorry for the people who get things like that after no exposure to it.
I wish him the best recovery, but hopefully this does serve as a wake-up call.

AIDS was discovered in 1981, and in the following years it was quite well spread in the media that some mysterious deadly disease was becoming common among gay men in San Francisco and New York.
By 1985 when Rock Hudson died from AIDS, the disease was a huge issue and some feared it would become as deadly as the black plague.

Wow, I didnt know that, I thought all the Queen men had their degrees??
