Birthday Present Ideas

Hey, guys, I am brain-storming right now, trying to figure out some gifts I can get for Chris (my bf, for those that don't know him). Since we have been together for over two years, I am finding it increasingly difficult to think of new ideas for birthday gifts.

Anyway, today I was thinking creatively and got the idea to buy tickets to see the St. Louis Cards play on his birthday. He is a pretty big fan and I think he will like it. I also called his closest friend (other than myself, that is :p) and asked if he would go too, so we can make a day of it.

This is all I have so far, but I need some gifts that are actually tangible that he can open. I feel giving him a dvd is silly, since he has a collection of over 300+. Giving him a cd is also silly, since he downloads his music. And giving him a book is sort of silly, since he doesn't read much when he is busy at college.

In the past, I have tried to give him at least one gift that is meaningful. For instance, on one birthday I gave him the journal that I had written about us and for the other birthday, I gave him a photo album of us with music lyrics that were meaningful to the both of us. But now I am drawing a blank of what to do.

If anyone has any clever gift ideas, please share with me!
The idea of the photo seems nice, I did that with my ex-fianceé: I bought a portrait and placed a photo of one of the sweeit moments we were together.

Also flowers are great. Blue roses are a sweet detail... of chocolate roses since they're yummy too.

What else??? a CD with songs that are special for both.

I think you should make him something. "What?" I don't know! That's the part you're supposed to figure out. You could always make him a viking hat. ;)

I like the idea of framing a picture of us together, though I would have to search around to find the perfect pic (maybe getting it done in black and white would be nice?) Thanks for the suggestion. :-)

I thought maybe giving him his favorite fudge would be nice, but I just remembered that he is dieting, so can't do that one.

The viking hat idea is growing on me. Or maybe a bowler hat? ;-)

I just spoke with him on the phone and now I want to tell him about the Cards game. Blast secrets!!!
Maybe you could bake him a healthy (well, at least not totally junk-food) birthday cake that might be more suitable for his diet.

I'm not sure what kind of a diet he is on, but there's a real good cake that even diabetics can eat. It's one of my favs, and since it's mainly angel food cake, it's fat-free.

Just buy a box of angel food cake mix, follow the instructions on the box, but INSTEAD of adding water add a small can of CRUSHED pineapple. (I've made mistakes before by ignoring those capital words, lol.) Bake it, and then let it cool. After it cools frost it with cool whip (use fat-free cool whip if he's on a diet, it's just as good). And sprinkle toasted coconut on top of it. (To toast the shredded coconut, just put some on tinfoil and stick it in the oven for a bit).

This is really simple and delicious. Possibly my favorite cake ever besides ricotta cheesecake and carrot cake. :-P

Then again, if it's his birthday he may not mind cheating.

:-)

That's a great idea, although I am not sure if he would be okay with eating some junk food for a day. Actually, he has told me he isn't on a strict diet, but that he is trying to eat healthy foods. (He is taking a scuba class and it requires for him to be fit and healthy.)

Thanks for the idea, though. I'll definitely consider baking something. :-)
If he does any sports, you cant go wrong with equipment, since he'll actually use it

Dan, if I did that, he'd probably dump me.
Did he listen L.A.M.B.?
What did he think of it?... and be honest ;-p

He certainly didn't give me crap like YOU do! ;p

Naw...if memory serves me right, he said he liked No Doubt a lot better. Which doesn't come as a surprise, anyway, cos we all know ND is better.

But c'mon, dude, you can't come into my topic and compare Gwen to Paris. You wrong for that...

:P
Hehehe... I love Gwen, she just has to get rid of the Hollaback & Harajuku girl crap, and bring those 3 guys back.

Speaking of that, I got 'Tragic Kingdom Live' on DVD. I didn't even know it was out until I saw it on Best Buy.
I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I usually wait until my parents go out to buy groceries and I put it full blast.

give him the best night of his life in a hotel room
:)
What about buying him something from www.thinkgeek.com? Can't go wrong there...unless he ate silly foam when he was younger.
