Well after reading other posts, my money is on this C. Barnwell fellow stealing it and thinking he could get away with calling it his own ;)

Song is officially credited to Stanley Lucas (BMI Work #52224). Publishers are: RIGHTSONG MUSIC INC and TWENTY FOUR KARAT MUSIC. And there are over 60 tracks officially and legally credited to Lucas.

And there are only 4 songs credited to Barnwell Carl: Even As, For Malanie, Moses In The Sunshine, Sylvie

To shed SOME light on this:

It's a 1960s and '70s British folk-rock group, formed by singer Ia(i)n Matthews. Their recording of the song dates from 1976, and was recorded without this chap Matthews I mentioned. It was clearly credited incorrectly on the mentioned single, but seems to be credited CORRECTLY to 'Lucas' on commercial releases of the single.

Most of the problem with the sound is the recording level, i played this in my ProTools and it Peaks big time, maybe re-record with a lower recording level? I can clean this up but can't do anything about it peaking.

I have no idea, but the single was released in '76. Perhaps it was shelved for a long time?
