1978.05.02 Vienna - second gen

Okay everyone, let's continue flooding the announce section with FLAC shares. Here's my first one:

This is the definitive version of a great Queen concert from the News Of The World tour.

Lineage: AUD > Master > Cassette (2) > WAV > CDR(x) > EAC > WAV > FLAC (Flac Frontend level 8)

The person who recorded this show lost his master tape in a flood, and lucky for us he had backed it up. He refused to copy his first generation tape to CDR, but he didn't mind copying it to another tape, which was then burned to CDR, and what we have here. This recording is a major upgrade, much better than the "Last European News" bootleg on the Gypsy Eye label. They manage to mutilate almost anything that comes their way before they release it. Their version was very tinny and hissy, and they omitted Keep Yourself Alive for good measure. But this second generation copy is as clean as it will get, and I'd give it a VG+ rating. Nice, stable sound. Similar setlist to the Houston 77 concert on the previous leg of the tour:

If I discover that this version was converted to a lossy format, then I will NEVER share a thing here again.

Thanks -- btw I wonder if there's any way to "watermark" source audio unobtrusively, so that later if someone did share this date in MP3, you could be sure it wasn't yours?

Come to think of it, if this was possible, the record companies must have done it already. Maybe that's what those FBI warnings on CD have been about lately :)

Watermarking is a good idea, which I thought of. I'm not sure I'll do it for this show, but it will be kept in mind. Either way, I know my recordings well enough that I'll be able to recognize if a later mp3 version was mine or not.

I just wanted to thank you for keep sharing in FLAC format. It's highly appreciated.

Be certain that as far as I'm concerned, FLACs recordings will never be shared in lossy formats.

Do you know how it`s possible to leave a watermark on a bootleg?
It`s nice to see the lossless sharing have started, and lets hope others will follow!
