Just kidding, just ignore them, you won't be able to convince them otherwise and they were probably just droning on and on about "that faggoty lead singer."

Know exactly what your talking bout mate, my mates think im gay just because Freddie Mercury was. And as im a hardcore fan (all albums, rareities, concerts) they just rip into me, just ignore em. Even so, you shouldnt really have to go through this because you like something else than them.
Another point to add, even one of my teachers, yes a supposedly mature adult, pokes fun at the fact that I like Queen. I was talking to my friend about Queen and someone asked who Freddie was, to which my teacher announced to the class "Freddie Mercury, he died of AIDS" and then she laughs. That's not the first thing she's said either.
Ignore them. Simple as that.

I have the exact same problem!!! My friend LOVES P!ATD and whenever i say something about Queen like 'Queen are the best band ever in my opinion' she'll go 'are you sure about that?' and then she'll go off on one talking bad about Queen. The other girls in my class are all chavs and they love RnB music and nearly all of them havent even heard of Queen and yet when we are in Sports class and someone wins somrthing they will start singing We Are The Champions... they r so stupid!! And the very few of them that do know who Queen are will say something like 'eww!! r u joking? is that the band that has that guy that died of the gay disease as a singer?' I hate it when peopole say that cos it is so disrespectful!!!

Yup, the classic response vis a vis my 'obsession with Queen' is this; 'They are an average band whose songs all sound the same!' My 'best friend' Julia 2006!
None of my friends (that I can think of) have made jabs at Freddie's personal life, but a couple of my friends think that Queen is "A bunch of ugly people." Narrow-minded, a bit shallow, but at least it's not "That creepy dude who got AIDS." And this kid in my class (my friend's completley serious theory is that his mom was on drugs when she was pregnant with him, because he has a few problems) who gets made fun of (REALLY TICKS ME) a fair amount is always trying to play the drum beat from Rock You in social studies. He doesn't know anything about Queen, but he's pretty poor and I don't think he can go to a record store and such, so I can't really blame him.

Anyway, yeah, I get the usual from people.... "Everyone was gay, right?" "Did the gayness spread? (...)"
Just tell them you don't care what they say and they can listen to their own pathetic music all they want, and that you are more mature since you don't talk bad about the music they like, so they shouldn't talk bad about the music you like!!
