When reading about The Works album on Wikipedia (yes, i was bored)it said ..."I Want To Break Free" was written by John Deacon out of frustration.
May be a simple explanation for this but i dont understand it. John? Frustrated? About what?
Forgive me if it's a silly question.
Thanks, my darlings.

I thought John had a very tough live at that point and he wanted to break free from that. I mean, his music career, he as a family man with his 4 children etc.
Maybe John wrote the lyrics that he thought would be good for Freddie to sing. Maybe it was about Freddie breaking free and falling in love, and John just wanted to write about it. ??? Or, maybe not.
He wrote it because he was straight :p
Indeed it's said that the band were fighting a lot in those days, so the idea of the song might have started as a frustration reliever and evolved into a more (lost) love-oriented type of thing.
Remember that songs don't always have to have a deep personal meaning to the writer. Sometimes they change stuff around and just write whatever fits :)
Brian might be the exception since his songs were often very deep and specific, but writing and performing are arts.. like an actor playing a part, the role being the song.. they don't always have to be biographical.

And sometimes people just write songs that have nothing to to with their emotions :) Just for the fun of it!
