I am pretty sure that Freddie's excessive sweating came from the cocaine, I have seen the same phenomenon with a German singer (Konstantin Wecker) who sang sitting at the piano and who sweated like mad after only 2 or 3 songs. After he dropped the habit (in fact, he went to jail for it) he was not any younger or weighed less but the sweating stopped completely.
Also, at Live Aid it was not that hot in the stadium and they played in daylight but Freddie was dripping nonetheless.

Singer will always sweat more, you always have a spotlight on you, that alone add's more heat.

Were you there? Ive heard stories that it was roasting hot in the stadium that day, and the fact that the stage was white and just reflected the heat just made it more intense.

Well he was getting on. He had to sing demanding songs and run about often at the same time so of course you're going to get tired out, he had a large space to run around in and he didn't play the piano as much by 86 whereas he did in the late seventies so he couldn't have much of a rest. I do believe the AIDS may have been part of it too- the 1st signs perhaps.
he was sweating coz he had to take a dump and couldnt go for two hours... any one would sweat that much.
