* why did he record them? (for personal amusement or was he approached by loyd webber?)
* what's the quality of the recordings? (studio or in the vein of the first barcelona sessions that was recorded by freestone)

I'm interested in finding out, if you're not - fine :)
I remember a story back in 1988 (or so.........god, it was such a long time ago) that Freddie was being considered as the absolute first choice to play the lead role - this was after he worked with Sir Tim Rice who was also putting together ideas for Phantom.
I believe JSS identified likely dates / quality issues in one of his threads.

i heard it was andrew lloyd webber who wanted freddie to play the phantom in the film version of the musical,but it never got of the ground.shame.
