I want the yellow jacket so bad! Do you think Freddie's house will go up for sale ever? I want to buy it when I'm a rockstar...hopefully they won't donate it to the national trust! Brian's guitar would go for millions..there are so many fans that would love that guitar and hardcore musicians.
Well not to sound rude but none of those people deserve the honour of "owning" the Red! What i mean by "those people" is potential buyers! How can you sell the very soul of someone you admire and care about? That would be like selling off the person you most love....be it parents, kids, you name it.
Seriously.....how anyone can even think of the Red Special being "sold" is beyond me. It is just not acceptable on so many levels. So if it did go up for the highest bidder...then what? What a horrid end to such a glorious creation.
No...it's better it goes with it's maker in my opinion. Keep it safe and away from unworthy owners and spare it the disgrace of becoming something less then what it already represents.
That guitar is the very essence of the man. It can be seen as his very soul in some sense, as it represents so strong a emotional tie to the joys and wonders he has been able to express through it. I am not talking about it as simply a mere musical instrument. It is far more then that. It's hard to describe....but those in the know will know what i am getting at.

Freddie's yellow jacket WAS sold at auction a few years back and made a packet. I suppose the Red Special will move on to Brians children when he dies but what they will do with it I don't know. I hope it does not end up in a private collection but rather have it on show in Britain in a Hard Rock Cafe were the fans can see it up close. No disrespect but I hope it does not end up in the USA. Queen never made it big there so I hope it remains in Blighty.

Queen was big in the USA, Maybe not as big here as in the UK. but none the less they were popular here.

BS. Herbert has (had? I heard he sold some of his guitars) 2 Guilds since the days they toured together, one green and one red. And it wasn't a car crash. The singer of O Rappa also owns one, or at least have appeared in some pics with one (not sure if he can play it though).

Actually, you can kind of do that now. Companies like Fender have set ups where you can scan your favorite guitar neck into a computer, and they can program the lathes to carve out a neck in exactly the same shape.
So you probably COULD scan the entire instrument into a computer and get as exact a copy as possible. But there's always going to be variances in electronic components and wood and such that will affect the tone. And I imagine it might be a little difficult to the get acoustic pockets inside the body exactly like the original.
But back to the original point, I would like to think his family would keep the guitar as a family heirloom.
