In Denmark it's in the original language but at least ARD and ZDF use 2 channel sound for some programs (movies?), so that you can hear it in the original language if you prefer that. :-)

i live in Portugal but via satelite i get german tv channels like 3sat, zdf,dsf,ard and other's.... and i must say i was very surprised to see that they did NOT dubbed the interviews,they in english with german subtitles. off course the narrator speaks in german. but i'm going to have a party because for ONE time in my life i've heard in a german channel english person talking WITHOUT any annoyng german voice over it.

All nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway) have original language on TV as well. Only children's programs are dubbed.
As said before, not a surprise that DoRo couldn't come up with anything new. There must be hours of filmed material that is still unreleased. Too much work to search and edit the old tapes...?

I couldn't believe it back in 2002. I was in Paris around the time Episode 2 of Star Wars came out and I went through a lot of trouble finding a cinema with the movie on its original version. Here in Mexico we get 99% of the movies on their original versions in movie theaters. Only those for children are dubbed. On TV we have dubbed shows on local TV and subtitled ones on cable.

They also dub all stuff in Hungary, it has a tradition here. If TV channels stopped dubbing and would put subtitles instead then ppl would be very mad :) Many ppl complain already because movies in cinema are mostly subtitled, about 10 years ago much more movies where dubbed also in cinema. Btw. isnt it better to hear everything on your own language instead of reading lines?
Overdubbing is quite common in the US/UK as well I think (for non-english spoken parts of course). I hate to see Dutch speaking people on National Geographic/ Discovery channel etc. being overdubbed by English speaking persons and than subtitled in Dutch.

no it's not. what it's better than hearing the original actor's voice?nothing. the actor is really THERE performing is role,you are hearing the original voice,the original emotion that the director intended for that particular scene of the movie. and of course i will not talk about seeing the actor's lips moving one way AND hearing a completly diferent thing... that's totally lame
i'd bet that you never heard in your life the voices of the best actors in hollywood...well... the voices of ALL program's dubbed there. if they subtitle things it's for you're own good,why? first you learn how to read,you educate your own language,second you learn english as well,by matching the subtitle with what it's heard at the moment
but even worst than that it's for example in Poland,where they keep the original language... with one, yes, ONE person translating the whole movie from the begining to the end. and it doesn't matter if it's an action scene,if it's a romantic scene...the voice stays the same tone-level through-out the entire movie

poppy: dubs are also made by professional actors. And you wont really notice that the lip is moving differently than the sound unless you watch very closely, or unless the actor is speaking very slowly. And 1 more thing: if the movie is a comedy then with dub they can add extra jokes. It happened many times that i watched a comedy in hun and i laughed my ass off, then i watched it in original language and it just wasnt that funny simply because it missed a lot of jokes. A typical example for that is SouthPark: the vulgare vocabulary of hun is much richer than the original so it is just more funny.
