Clothing in the 70s

I am terribly fond of the way that the band dressed offstage (on stage as well, of course) during the 70s. Is it possible to find clothes similar to that anymore? The only clotes I can ever find a eitehr far too large or of strange proportions. It's impossible to find pants for people with long skinny legs that aren't extremely baggy. And it's also hard to find shirts that aren't just plain t-shirts with brand names printed across the chest.

you have no idea how hard it is to find vintage 70s clothing. i tried to look for some for Halloween but couldn't find anything... :/

They're either long enough and too baggy or right-fitting but up past my ankles. Again - DAMN YOU PANTS !

Now, you might try a used clothing shop. I found some really ... interesting things there. The local University campus, there's a great vintage store with stuff like that.

If you could give some specific examples of items you like, that might help.

I think a dance store might have something like Freddie's black wrap shirt with the sparkles. Of course... a lot of the stuff I'm looking at seems like it would be more at home in the women's section of a "modern" store.

For example, those knit dusters/smoking jackets were really popular a few years back (I think they are again...) - the same style as one I have a picture of Freddie wearing - procured from the ladies' section. You might have luck in "popular" stores you never would have thought of.

I don't know if you live in the city or anything, but there are generally stores that cater to a wider-variety of tastes in city-like-areas.

A lot of it would depend on your age (awkward fit could be part of growing) and gender, too.

I mean, it takes courage for a man to go into the ladies' section and go boldy into the dressing room and say, "I'm trying on these fucking satin pants and you're not going to stop me."

I have the same problem. Today's clothes are really boring.
The only thing remotely retro that's popular today are those skin-tight black jeans, but I'm tired of those.

i like the 70's clothes as well but i never find any and my friends think im just plain weird when i tell them that im trying to find 70's clothes.

There is no better place on Earth then Kensington Market itself for the fabulous fashions you are looking for.

Last time i visited, i picked up a beautiful authentic black velvet coat for only a fiver ( 8 USD). They also had some fantastic "authentic" trousers in both velvet and satin...some great stuff! It was as if you had gone back in time and any minute you would round' the corner and see Roger and Fred's stall. The cloths and other artifacts were all the genuine article, and most were resonably priced. Most stall owners are keen on chatting, so don't be shy if the price seems high. Make an offer!

Anyone going to London should visit Ken Market anyway for the historic connection to our favourite band of course...but for those who want to aquire some REAL "Early Queen Era" fashions this is IT!

In the US, have not a clue where you could go. As previous posters noted, eBay and yard sales are good places to look. I have never had any luck though...however eBay is a good spot to pick up some 70's platforms and real wooden clogs! Yeah...some real gems turn up there once in a while....
