The Platinum Collection - UNRELEASED

Can anyone help please ?

A few years ago at the Convention in the UK.

They gave away The Platinum Collection box set with the 3 Greatest Hits and the first video hits.

I believe this set has never been released and I have been offered one by a collector, as I am starting my own collection.

I wanted to know a few things please !!!!!!!

1) What is the value and collectable aspect of this set (is it rare? how many are there about?)
2) Does anyone have a link to pictures of it please
3) Why was it never released ?

As for the first video hits thing, I don't know. Do you have any more info?

I have the Platinum collection of the 3 CD's

But this is is different it is a box set of all 3 g/hits plus the video.......

I believe it was manufactured then not released as the band didn't like it

But at the Queen convention they gave them away to everyone who was there to celebrate what I think was the 20th Convention

you can easily pick it up on eBay.

When you say not so rare ???? can you elaborate ?

It WAS released, but only in Germany and Spain (if I remember well).

I believe they were going to sell this on TV during an infomercial (kind of like QVC for us Americans) but Roger apparently hated the idea and it was canceled.

The boxes (3 CDs plus 1 VHS tape) were given to the English convention participants in 2005 as a free convention goodie. I do not know how many people go to the convention but I would think 1500 at the most. After the convention about 100 people sold their boxes on ebay and the price dropped to about 40 pounds after 80 copies were sold. I think it was very cool to give the boxes to the fans for free after deciding against releasing it.

Description: Box including the 3 "Greatest Hits" CDs with equal design ("platinum") and 1 VHS tape in a platinum coloured cardbox containing Greatest Flix 1 but not the bonus tracks as on previous releases plus a booklet describing each song featured on the CDs in English, German and Spanish language.

I'd say so, I seen it go on ebay for £30-40. Mind you if you were at the convention you could of had it for free ;).

Okay, so I did not need to upload the pics but they don't show yet and magic-vision's photo is better, anyway. 20 pounds is a very good price.

It's not worth a tenner....it's the bog standard Platinum Collection and a bog standard Flix 1 VHS

I'd hope that the kind of uber-completists who should be the only people interested in this would number no more than the 100 or so who got shafted on ebay in the weeks after the event.
