I tried it (just like I'm the idiot that always tries to lick my elbow...) and I can only push my jaw back a few millimetres... and it hurts like a... I doubt I could sing while trying to make my law recede.
Besides - if any geniuses are really out there doing this, you're just making your jaw recede, which looks different than teeth protruding and effecting your upper lip...
Crap... I've been bothering my mom to get me to the orthodontist... O no ! I'm a bad Queen fan !
In other news - I know a kid who had five wisdom teeth removed...
And all the ladies in my 1800s fashion drawings have overbites.
That is pretty much impossible :p

I would GUESS it was a centimetre... I mean... the teeth stuck out of the poor man's mouth if he got lazy with the whole facade of "I have normal teeth".
Here's a picture ! :
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n310/KelleyofLove/HugeScaryTeeth.jpg
(Looks huge, the lower jaw doesn't open straight down so I guess it's "enhanced")
Now... If someone were to take a good picture and calculate it roughly according to proportions and his height, they would be either :
1 - Obsessed in a very terminal sort of way.
2 - A person who likes mathematics and has too much free time.
Now, I fit the second billing, but I'm afraid people would assume the first, so I'm just not doing it !

It would seem that we do not have any dentists as members of this site, since we have not been able to answer the overbite question!
Some sort of dental website must exist where questions like this can be answered. Rockstar overbites.com or something.

I can fake an overbite. I don't actually move my jaw at all. I just place my lower lip under my upper lip and it looks pretty real. As in, it looks like Freddie when he was trying to hide his overbite.

Alright... FINE...
According to the only halfway decent picture I could find of that bimbo standing upright-ish, he's 7.357 heads tall.
This means his head would be about 9.379 inches from chin to the top of it.
Isn't this exciting ?
Three pictures, using this new and terribly thrilling "knowledge" :
1. .469 inches
2. .257 inches
3. .637 inches
Average = .454 inches
(I used the height of his head as a guide and used it as a ruler for profile and took some ratios)
So, a little under half an inch, which translates to about 1.15 cm.
1.15 cm !
That is fucking close to all the guesses !
Hooray for math !
If it's off, I don't give a fuck !

I want to thank Charles for his effort, and you seem to be very good at math.

lol! poor Freddie, I bet he had a terrible time at school being teased because of his teeth-children (and adults) can be very cruel. He was self-conscious about them in interviews but luckily not when he was on stage. I actually think they looked ok from the front when he sang at the piano, and on a positive note they were quite white too as shown in the pic below.

I feel better about my teeth now.
I think maybe I'll pretend to try to "smile with teeth !" when my mom implores me to when trying to take my picture.

Freddie's quote about his teeth: "I don't like the way my teeth protrude. I'm going to have them done, but I just haven't had the time. Apart from that... I'm perfect."
Thank heavens he never had them done. It would have changed the sounds coming out of his mouth. On some songs he sounds lispy to me. Somewhere I read that he had four SMALL upper front teeth behind the visible ones that pushed them forward. Dentally speaking, is this even possible? I believe at boarding school, he was called Bucky.
(One hour later) Oh, I just found this on a website:
Freddie's famous overbite was apparently caused by the presence of four extra teeth, which pushed his incisors out. He commented early in his career that he wished to have work done, but regretted that he did not have time to do it. He also expressed fears that such an operation might damage his voice. While smiling in interviews, Freddie would often cover his mouth with his hand in an attempt to hide the overbite.

I always thought the four extra teeth were wisdom teeth... and that he had buck teeth on top of that.
It's pretty "common" to get extra wisdom teeth - a kid in my Physics class last year had five removed.
Overcrowding can push your teeth forward.
WHY TEETH - WHY ?!
