Slightly disagree... listen to A Trick Of The Tail, Wind And Wuthering, and And Then There Were Three... they were still very prog. They didn't shift to pop until Duke, which was 5 years after Gabriel left the band. Sure, their singles from '78 onward were pop, but every "commercial era" (if you will) Genesis album still has its nods to prog.
