Hey everybody,

Just for the hell of it, what do you think is the most missunderstood thing about Queen? This should get some interesting responses. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and I look forward to your opinions...

Cheers!

Steve
Well a lot of people think they are all gay. So thats a misunderstanding. Also people think they are either a rock band or a pop band but they do all types of music so you can't really label them.

That they were British. I believe a in a court case a few years back, they were unable to prove their Britishnicity. Just one more piece of the puzzle which will eventually prove definitively that Queen were comprised of extraterrestrials. Brian's "interest" in space dust is not just a coincidence my friends.

Its deffinitly that they are all gay. Some people were looking through my Ipod and they were like "Arent the guys of Queen all dead and gay?"
:)
Yep, I agree...it's definitely that people think they're all gay. But besides that, what do you guys think?
Well, one most misunderstood thing about Queen is that they did indeed have a bass player. He is so forgotten in history...
that they are/were a serious band....they are/were not...and Bohemian Rhapsody is a song about something...well, it is NOT !
lifelong loyal and dedicated Queenfan.

I agree...with THAT and the gay thing...but also...I hate that people assume that just because Freddie was gay...that he's like untalented and he got AIDS and no one cares...and he wasn't important....and he's missing from music books....and that people like Elvis are more important and talented...and ignorant people....that think that Bohemian Rhapsody is ALL they fucking need on their music lists, Itunes and Ipod...and with that....they have THE BEST OF QUEEN in a papersack. Ignorant idiots I should say. Queen are thought as "Bohemian Rhapsody and nothing else". In my opinion, Bohemian Rhapsody is not such a "WOW" song....People don't realize that there is just so much more to Queen than Bohemian Rhapsody. But they don't care. All they need is that one "golden jewel" and their collections are complete...and what is that golden jewel you ask? Bohemian Rhapsody of course. Ok..sorry completely off topic...

But still...another misunderstood thing about Queen is just...the fact that they are ignored...some people just make a general statement "Who in their right mind would call their band Queen with 4 guys? They are probably all dead...Gay....and maybe one of the old geezers is still alive or something...but anyways...we don't care....we are just ignorant people". Another thing: Genre misunderstanding. Let me tell ye.....I was conversing with my *friend* in class yesterday....enlightening conversation it was...Oh yes...especially after she called Queen *POP* WTF???? "Oh yes...I don't like Queen...they are too opera-ish" (which brings us to another misunderstanding about Queen being OPERA just because of the name of their album ANATO)...Ok..."They aren't hard rock at all"

WTF you loser? They are rock....you can look it up...and even listen to it if you want. But *sigh* "NO THANKS". :D...

Another misunderstanding: Queen's sometimes silly song names. People just judge right away. and songs with names like "Tie your Mother Down" throw people off, and make them think Queen is some emo band or something...and Freddie Mercury sounds like Michael Jackson. LOL. WTF. I'll stop my rambling now. Sorry for the long passage. XD

OMG. One more thing. Ok...since rock is like completely forgotten in America (exaggeration...but you know...Rap music takes over =0)...How come they know of Paul McCartney and John Lennon but they don't know much about Freddie Mercury and Brian May? I mean...I was shocked when we were discussing musicians in class....and Brian May wasn't even mentioned. :(...I mean...I know that Queen messed up in America...but still. =(.
I feel your pain Anna, America has totally forgotten what good music is. It is pathetic that everybody knows who Paul McCartney is, they know who John Lennon was, and they know who Gene Simmons is yet all they can say about Queen is that this guy in the band died of AIDS because he was queer. It shouldn't anger me, but the fact that they were four fantastic musicians who were in some ways more talented than even The Beatles or KISS upsets me. A lot of people just don't understand just how great Queen was and how much chemistry their was. I just hope the band isn't forgotten completely one day. I'd love to know that Queen will be in text books one day just as we read Mozart in music books today. I would love to know that Freddie Mercury will not be forgotten in a 100 years. That's just my opinion, some people might disagree...

I totally agree. It upsets me too...I mean it's not like we can make people like Queen...but at least give them a chance and look them up or something...to rid your pathetic "rap infested" minds...that Queen is an unimportant "dead, gay" band. lol...So true...

Let us hope that the movie about Freddie Mercury (which I hope the band is still working on) will remind people forevermore of just how great he and the rest of the band was. The movie might actually further immortalize Freddie's spirit here in America. Wouldn't that be lovely?
Ignore this post...it was a mistake...damn...
YOU ARE GAY!!! YOU AGE BADLY!!! YOUR HIART TIS <E TYNET!!
Who knows? But I hate to do a music related search (for concert tickets, or on VH1, iTunes or even TIVO) and find everything else with Queen in the name. Queen should be at the top of those search results. That gets tiring.

The individual members other than Freddie are not as famous as they should be. For example, on our local radio station they were giving away a guitar signed by Brian May. Instead of saying just "Brian May" and people knowing, they had to say "Brian May of Queen". This sort of bugs me.
Yeah, i'd agree with people thinking that they're all gay.
Well, Queen aren't the most masculine band, are they?

There's Brian with his lovely, curly, beautifully kept hair.
There's Roger with his lovely, womanly blonde hair and his occasions of dressing up as women.
There's John with his various different hair styles he simply always has to change, plus his lovely pinky, shorty-short shorts he wears.
And of course, Our darling diva, Freddie.

Very effeminate band indeed. So, yeah, you can see why people misunderstand them as gay. :P
"It’s not often we play in daylight, and I fucking well wish we did before, I can see you all now. And there are some beauties here tonight, I can tell you!" ;)
