"Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue."

It calls "statement", it's not interview - no audio, no video. Calm down.
there was no video or interview, just the statement which by L-R-Tiger 1994.
freddie was lying in bed with morphium the last days with a broken leg (according to jim hutton) and i don't think he was in the mood to tell the world that he was going to die in a few hours.

Just a case of misunderstanding I'm sure. Think of it as more of a press release.. something in writing prepared in advance to be released to the press (who had been hounding him).
Others have stated that it was probably more of manager Jim Beach's idea and Freddie may have even been pressured into approving it.. who knows, but it seems rational enough to me and I do think it was a good idea to get the truth out there, as it opened the door for the band and others to talk about it and do things such as raise money for AIDS charities without feeling they needed to keep some non-secret.
It was painful to read that, being a U.S. fan and not having seen all the tabloid trash there.. I had no clue he was sick. And then he was gone later that same day.. because we got the statement a bit late here.

jim hutton and joe fanelli (or phoebe) carried freddie to the toilet because he was too weak to go for it on his own, but one of the last days jim carried him on his own and freddie broke a bone, - you can read it in jim huttons book.

when you don't believe jim huttons and peter freestones book, you can't believe anything, because the they are the only persons who lived so colsed to freddie and wrote a book about it. i am sure they both know better about everything then you and me. but you're right, i also don't care if the books tell the truth, i just read them and found them informative, and some things i guess they are true and some not.

Who told you that? Peter and Jim? So that's the answer...

Actually I believe it was a broken rib and Freddie screamed, and apparently went into a convulsion...I don't see why they would have any reason to lie about these things...what would be the point??
