I guess Mary Austin is right - there's no one better to play Freddie then Johnny Depp :) but I tought that they'd pick somaone who look more like freddie :D

I think johnny does looks like freddie! And he is such a great actor. But I don't think he'll do it. he seems very busy these days :-(

I think he will. If he's busy, the film can wait for him. But even if he's bogged down for years, I doubt he'd pass it up. The one consistency that is always present with Johny Depp's work is his need to constantly take on giant challenges and play unique new roles. It doesn't get more challenging than Freddie Mercury.

I think he'll play Freddie and that he'll end up winning the Oscar for Best Actor for it. That being said, I still would prefer Gael Garcia Bernal.

He sort of does look like Freddie, the high cheekbones and the same mysterious eyes...

yeah, but really even if i do think that he looks like freddie, he won't be the best actor for this role. johnny depp is a character in itself, and it will be difficult for most of us to see him as Freddie Mercury, and not as Johnny Depp. well, that's my oppinion.

Other than a superficial resemblance to Mr Mercury, I really have trouble with Sasha what'shisface as Freddie. He lacks something very important, in my opinion: Charisma. And, there appears to be a certain weakness about him, whereas Freddie exuded power. I just don't know.

Couldn't really see Depp as Mercury, either, however, he DOES have that aforementioned power and charisma.
I think I'd much rather see someone whose energy resembled Freddie than someone with an appropriate mustache and chest hair.
Hopefully, I will be proved wrong!!
