As most of us are aware, those red panties were painted on...however, what ever happened to the original copy of the single? If I'm not mistaken, the only reason why those panties were painted on was because the Americans didn't like it very much...which sucked. I'm just curious if the band had to censor that picture only in the United States, or did they censor it in all the territories? I have yet to this day be able to find one of these singles without the red panties...can anybody enlighten me? Thanks...

My copy looks the same! So I suppose there was no "naked version", but you never know!

Because singles were more of a youth format, the censorship was universal, ie that picture has only been released in censored form...I think?

According to Queenpicturehall, the US censorship consisted of a bit of string across her back so that she wasn't topless!

Yeah, if ANYBODY finds the original either post a link here or tell us where to find it...

I'm sure I remember seeing a picture of an actual single with a pantyless bird on it, but until that turns up this is the next best thing. I think it was an ad in Record Mirror from the time:
