If it was a trend then that Queen was part of - who CARES ?! I still think the "I Want to Break Free" video spoof parts are funny.
It's not like a bunch of men dressing up as bad imitations of women was anything new even a couple hundred years ago - guys did it for theatre and some got off on it.
Clichés in lyrics happen. But, for heaven's sake, after listening to the "Les Misérables" musical recently, I don't have anything against whatever Queen did ("I feel my pain inside me like a knife"... "I am reaching but I fall"...).
There are a LIMITED number of choices in the world. Sure, Queen may have been influenced - and they influenced people, too. I don't think they calculated every aspect of their perceptible beings to be a direct theft from someone else.
