In this song when he mentions Freddie does he mean Freddie Mercury?
Cos he goes

'So I tried to be like Grace Kelly
... (???) ...
So then I tried a little Freddie!'
Then he pounds his fist in the air in a Freddie Mercury way.
There's no pulling the wool over your eyes, is there.

Sorry to dishearten you but I think you will find he is referring to Fred Astair.

Hi all! I haven't posted in a long while. I actually checked the forum to see if anyone had posted about Mika. When I heard him for a moment I felt as if my Freddie had come back to Earth for a while to give us one more song!!!!
Now of course if you listen closely he's nothing like Freddie, but in some bits of the song he really does sound very similar, and I was so impressed!!! I hate people who mock him, I even dislike coverbands but this guy is really different for me. I wrote him and he even replied! I had to tell him how he made me feel. I also told him that I hope to hear more music by him, and to discover his uniqueness too, because in Grace Kelly you can clearly hear that he's mocking Freddie...Even his looks suggest it. If he keeps doing so he will become ridiculous. But if he only does it in Grace Kelly, well....

I think you can't say that he isn't talented!!!

I also heard his podcast and he sounds like a very nice guy.

I was very curious to hear what other Queen fans had to say about Mika. My opinion is that he's great. Of course he can't be like Freddie, but oh well...this is understood and shouldn't even be mentioned, as even mentioning it is offensive! But in some parts of the song similarities are striking. His voice is wonderful. I wish him all the luck in the world.

Ciao

Noop.... I dont think he his.

His Piano playing style is very much like Freddie's, which shows Freddie is an influence and Fred Astair was never called Freddie, it was always Fred.
...
I adore Mika and can't wait for his album to be released. I first heard about him on Brian May's website, when he mentions that he thinks he's very talented. I do believe he means Freddie Mercury in the Grace kelly song. Also I read somewhere that he used one of Freddie's pianos in one of his recordings. Does anyone else know anything about this?
OF COURSE he's referring to Freddie Mercury. It couldn't be a more blatant reference if it slapped you in the face - *especially* with the video.
he is very overrated and his songwriting skills lacks alot.

Yeah your right cos I just found his myspace and under influences he has Queen's 'A Night At the Opera' album pic there
I don't really like his voice or the song. So far... just have to wait and see if there's anything else decent to hear.

Adam.
