Love of my life and You're my best friend not played on ANATO tour. Why?

Hello! I wonder why they didn't incude these two songs in the set on ANATO tour. What's your opinion?

1. They can't include everything.
2. There was no acoustic set yet (that's why '39 wasn't played either)
3. I don't think Fred could do the piano part of LOML live

I think it's a shame they never did it live with a piano. It would've stayed a lovely ballad that way. Instead of a football like singalong

He didnt do the piano part live? wow, I'm not gonna argue with you cause you definitely know far more than I, but I do have a question, on the ANATO dvd, on the video they show Freddie playing the piano during Earls Court. Was that not during Love of my Life?

Fred was a brilliant pianist but not good enough to play that arrangement live imo. Especially the solo, he'd have made a real hash quite often there...

"You're My Best Friend" was performed right before "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the Hyde Park show. Technically not part of the ANATO tour, but they did include it eventually.

Fried Chicken- you are exactly right. While the sentiment of the crowd singing along to Love of My Life is wonderful, it does tend to sound like a singalong wedding reception at times. I have often wished that Freddie played LOML live on piano, just by himself, in the manner of You Take My Breath Away. It would have been a showstopper.

I should have said live DVD....I know there is a 30th anniversary CD/DVD, but maybe that is the DVD...I've only been a Queen fan for a 1 year 1/2.

There's no such thing as an official DVD from the ANATO tour, unfortunately. The unofficial 1977 Earls Court DVD is probably the closest you'll get. The official ANATO DVD is a "making of" DVD , very interesting (I thought) but with very little concert footage.

I dunno. He did a servicable job of playing Millionaire Waltz. If he slowed down Love of My Life a bit, he'd probably be able to play that too.

Then again, just say 'slow it down' to Freddie, he'd probably laugh in your face. Hehe.

I also think he could have played LOML live, but only if he slowed it down like the last poster said. "you take my breath away" is a good example. I think freddie was a great pianist, like brian said, what he lacked in technical ability he made up with passion and emotion.
