Jailhouse Rock - Semi-studio mix

After months of trying in vain to find the studio rock 'n roll medley that was recorded during the Queen album sessions (but never released), I decided to go for the next-best thing--a heavily-edited live version. One thing led to another, and now I have a semi-studio Jailhouse Rock here.

Basically, I took the Jailhouse Rock medley from the Golders Green 1973 show, and first trimmed out the crowd noise. Then I got to cutting the song itself, and was left with only Jailhouse Rock (I cut the middle section of the medley out). Take a listen--it's almost certainly as close to a Queen-recorded studio Jailhouse Rock as most of us will ever get.

Damn that sounds nice! Golder's Green is pretty clean to begin with, right? Great to hear Roger's "wooo!"s throughout.

Now do hangman :)

I like it, is well done. Thanks for the work and of course for sharing it!!

Golders Green is about as clean as it gets in terms of live recordings, even though it is a radio broadcast (and therefore kinda cheating). The producers cut the crowd noise out of the songs almost entirely, just using it as filler.

If you can find me a Hangman that sounds even close to clean, I'll see what I can do. ;)

Mind if I use it on my next podcast? Contact my mail with whatever 'name' you want to show up in the credits, otherwise I can just use jaxjag03 :)

Go for it, credit to Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, and Axlerows (I love anagrams...that's what that is, isn't it?) in that order, please ;)

nice work - bring on the hangman edit. maybe email john stuart for the real studio version...

Ern2150 - this is going to be a killer podcast - btw, check out 'The hero, blistering remix' post for the definitive version of that remix (minus Max Von Sydow's laughter), updated today for the last time!

It's coming -- I loved Max's laughter so I kept that version, hope you don't mind. I'll post when the podcast is ready...it's a short one, but a good one...

Have to say, that's very good, and definitely one I will keep - thanks!

Just one observation - what's the 'tapping' noise here and there throughout? It almost sounds like someone clapping badly.

I don't know what editing software you are using, but you could possibly add some drum plate reverb to extend that last cymbal slightly, making it less abrupt, but that's just a suggestion as something I might have done. Not saying yours is bad.
