Hey everyone

Hi everyone!

It's been so long since I last posted here on a regular basis, eh?

Anyways, to make a long story short, I wanted to write from the hospital I am currently at to let you know of something that's happened within the last two weeks.

Basically, two Fridays ago, I started passing a lot of blood in my stools (yes, gross I know). I figured it was something else, from some dark spicy chicken I had two hours+ prior...but there was more and more coming out.

So I went to the nearest hospital (which for the moment I will keep unnamed until I am discharged).

Well, I lost so much blood, it came to about 25% of my blood that I lost before I *had* to have a blood transplant / transfusion, which I didn't mind so much.

I won't go into details about my examinations *ahem*, but on Wednesday this past week, they finally found what was causing my internal bleeding (which had stopped on Monday btw).

I have / had Meckel's Diverticulum, which meant for me was that some stomach tissue and acid was collecting in a small area of my small intestines near the small bowels area, which led to some pain a few weeks ago, that I had mistaken for heartburn (given my history with that, but that's another small story), and eventually to my bleeding.

Incidentally, MD is a very rare thing to have, since it only affects about 2% of our world population, so I unfortunately got "lucky" in that respect :-(

I had surgery on Thursday to remove the (approx.) 2-3" of small intestines that were affected, so now I am essentially "cured" of the Meckel's.


So yeah, I am currently still in the hospital for now, and I was in a lot of pain for a couple days or so, but now I am feeling great (aside from the operated area on my tummy, which was stapled in order to heal since the incision was around 3" in length...dunno how long atm till I get the stapless removed, but I am happy to say that it's looking to heal up very nicely, with very little scarring....maybe I might get a photo of proof before the staples are removed, ha! :-)

But tomorrow I should be seeing my surgeon, as he wasn't in today, and I may very well most likely will be discharged after I see him! Yay!


Will keep you guys updated about my recovery in the next while! (I will be staying with close family to recuperate for two weeks before I head back to work, so I can get some money I desperately need to pay off some bills!)
