Just bought the Houston DVD (silver pressed) from a record fair and whilst the PQ is average (spoilt by a few horizontal lines) the audio is excellent. DD 5.1 no less. Ok it may not be a true '5.1 mix' but it's still very clear with a fair bit of ambience.
How did this remix come about?

Somebody took the mix and re-encoded it so it goes to all speakers.
