What's your favourite / worst Tour?

Let's share some opinions here, I would like to know what other fans think...

- fav. tour : Jazz Tour '78-'79

I just love their live-sound and the way they played their Set from that period. After releasing two more "back to basics" Albums, their stage act become more raw and "to the point". Arena-Rock without too much glamour and pomp. Freddie's style changed also, it seems to me he doesn't only want to look dangerous with his Black leather, for me he sings some songs in a agressive way. Just compare "Sheer Heart Attack" or "Tie your Mother down" to later Tours. Brian's Brighton Rock Solo and the wonderfull Jam after that never sounded so great in my ears after this Tour.
And of course : The Pizza-Oven!
It's not their biggest Lighting Rig, but in my opinion their most effective! I remember watching the Live Killers Cover as a Kid, i didn't know how these Guys sound like, but they must be the coolest Band on the Planet with a Lighting Rig like this....

- worst: The Works Tour '84 -'85

Im not really into their 80's stuff (besides The Game!) but the Works Tour is just horrible. Roger's Drums sound too synthetic, just listen to his awfull drumming on "Another One Bites The Dust". Brians Guitar sound thin, with too much treble (like most Bands in 80's). They are only a few shows where Freddie's voice is in good shape. And the Synthie's in "Somebody to love"....(shakes with disgust...)
Too much Show elements, less musical quality.
(same goes for the Magic Tour, allthough they had a MUCH better Live Sound in '86)

Well let me start by saying that I have had the privilege of witnessing them live on four separate occasions (1977, 78, 80 & 82) all were wonderful shows. My personal favorite was the show they preformed in December of 1978 at “The Fabulous Forum” in Los Angeles. They were in top form and the crowd was very into the show. I was only 16 at the time. I am also not a big fan of their 80’s stuff. Most of the songs from that era I consider weak, but I do enjoy the live renditions of them.

Best tour - ADATR = still raw with lots of old hits

Worst tour - The Works = just like stated above - Freddie's voice is horrible & Roger's drums sound like shit.

But what a GREAT setlist did the works tour had! I love the works tour for that. Great, great setlist!

I saw them (amongst other dates) six times during the Hot Space tour in '82, and though I hated the arrival of an additional keyboard player (Morgan Fisher was okay but worse was to come!) the beginning of each of those concerts with those U.F.O. type light troupers sent shivers down my spine each time - what a start to a magnificent show! Musically I preferred the 1980 shows I have to say.

Great King Rat, Seven Seas of Rhye... What a pitty that i was 6 years old in '84! Even with their crappy sound, i would be at any Queen show if I had the opportunity.

Best -Crazy Tour '79 Best gig I have ever seen...what a band.

Worst - Works Wembley '84 - great setlist but Freddie not in good voice and keyboards too prominent....

Saw two shows on '86 Tour and much better (inc Knebworth) if only they'd got shot of Spike...

It hurts me to say I think The Works is the worst - because there was a great setlist on that tour, really. But honestly - I listened to Birmingham or something from that tour and our man Freddie was reduced to MY range... you know this is a bad thing!!

Never liked the drum sound either. Some great ideas, but really not a great tour.

I will always have a thing for '86, I suppose my favourite stuff is 78-81.

My favourite has always been the News Of The World tour. I think that had the best setlist, some great performances (Houston, Copenhagen, Paris and Vienna) and I prefer the earlier live renditions of Rock You, Champions and Love Of My Life.

The worst tour is The Works 1984; excellent setlist on paper, but horrible synthesizers over classic tracks and Freddie's vocal condition have never endeared those shows to me.

Best tour- I think 1980-1982 period was their best and the 1977 tour was great too.

Worst Tour- they don´t have a "bad tour" but Freddie´s voice was really bad in the "Jazz" tour. I used to think that the works was bad, but the Tokyo shows were trully amazing - Freddie´s voice was great. And their Rock in Rio concerts were great too!
