I have to say, there's a bigger connection between Van Halen and Queen than between Nirvana and Queen. Hehe. Eddie Van Halen and Brian May are personal friends and Eddie himself said that his guitar playing was influenced a lot by May's. David Lee Roth is one of the blond rock gods.

Anyways, to the topic at hand: David Lee Roth is hailed as one of the top vocalists of the 1980's. Van Halen has never been the same since he left. Sammy Hagar could not fill his shoes, and neither could *shudder* Gary Cherone.
"Diamond Dave" is a pure showman. From the clothes to the gestures and humor on and off stage. In a way, our Freddie was similar. They both had their flamboyant antics in concert, and both had impeccable vocal stylings.
Dave these days, though...he could be better. His hair's whack, and he still can't get things straight with the rest of Van Halen. It was disappointing at the 2007 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony to see only Michael Anthony (who is no longer in the band) and Hagar there.
I don't know...things don't look good for Van Halen. Dave's still a good man. He just needs to check himself.

I agree. This is NOT a Van Halen/DLR site. But.... DLR has done little of substance since leaving VH. Not one truly memorable album and his best solo single was a cover of a Beach Boys song! Both he and VH were at their best when they were together as a unit. But I disagree about Sammy Hagar. I thought he had a great voice.
