I think the arguments were largely artistic differences. The good thing is that they never let the differences get so bad as to break them up.
I think you have the wrong impression of the band and their relationship in the 80s though. I think by this time they were mostly interacting mostly in a professional manner, and not really socialising outside of the band. For example, they would come together to record, to rehearse and to tour. Outside of that, I don't get the impression that they spent lots of time together really. Not that they didn't like each other, just that they had their own lives and liked to live them apart in between the work.
As for The Cross, I don't see an issue there. Roger wanted to do something while Queen weren't. Remember that Freddie also recorded The Great Pretender and Barcelona during this period, so it's not like Roger was out doing lots of stuff and ignoring an ailing Freddie. And Roger was there for the Miracle and Innuendo, so he was there when Queen needed him IMO

i dont think i would be so pissed at the cross if it wasnt another band instead of only roger.i love roger but i like him in queen more.
But it was his decision to make it a band. Your position has no logical grounding.
well excuse me for exprssing what i thought!
What's this about a prequel to TATDOOL? What were they arguing about?

ha!
Because Iron Maiden* sat around drunk and just said "uh-huh" during their entire recording career.
Ever listen to Iron Maiden* now and see how musically lame we were?
* Other substitutions include Krokus, Cinderella, Ratt, Poison, Sinead O'Connor songs not by Prince, Dokken, Dio, Night Ranger, and Krokus. Mentioned twice cause they really sucked.

Like Freddie said they all have big egos and want thier own name on their own songs on all the albums but they came to an agreement. Thankfully! :D I mean 20 years in a band ya know...it might be impossible to not argue. Freddie also said that sometimes after recording they couldnt stand to be with eachother. Then Freddie said "i avent hit Brian...Yet!" He will always be funny to me! :P
