WWRY Toronto reviews

Have only seen the one I've posted below so far, but I'll add links to reviews when I see them. The local classic rock station was describing WWRY this morning, saying the story was absurd and ultra cheesy, but the singers and band were great. Called it a way of framing Queen songs in a loosely connected story, and "Mamma Mia on steroids." They had lots of nice things to say about the Queen catalogue.

It's interesting to see things that obviously don't cross the river so well, e.g. the reviewer's going on about Scaramouche as playing the snotty card all night or maybe the Britney Spears comment. On the former, to me, that's one of the best bits about her! And I loved seeing Hannah Jane-Fox play that stuff soooo well.

Yeah, I'm not surprised that the Toronto Sun gave a bad review. But it is clearly making stuff up, most notably how it didn't get many laughs. The Tuesday audience was very enthusiastic. It really is a funny show, but underneath that, it does pose a very serious message about where our mainstream is now, and where it is heading. Clearly it was well over the conservative reviewer's head, as I thought it would be.
