Woodcut for art class

For a woodcut unit in my art class I'm planning on useing a picture of Freddie so if people could recomend some pictures of him I'd be grateful, thanks.

It has to be somthing quite simple and I'm hopeing to get one from the eairly 70s (when he had long hair) or late 80s(with mostach).It dosen't matter whether it is coloured or not.So once again, thank you for any recomendations that I may recieve.

For one of my art internals I used the image of Freddie on the Hot Space album. You'll be hard pressed to find one simpler hehe!

It depends on what you want to do.

If you're using only one colour or more than one...

You can get a decent black and white map from almost ANY image.

You could print the "map" and carve that into the actual wood.

If you balance the image differently, you'll get different results - whether you do this by hand or use a digital print to work by.

I think that the early 70s would be ideal if you're a beginner or looking for something fairly simple - after all, they wore black and white so your contrast is easily there.

That or the whole "I'm Going Slightly Mad" thing.

Depends - if you're doing more than one block, you can just add the grey/whatever value for colours.

Also - if you made a "map", it would be easier to do something fairly complex - whereas just carving on the wood or something would take a lot more... patience.

Of course, there's a good chance you already know that ! :D

Wow. I'd *love* to see this one as a woodcut... looks challenging, though!

Aww, my idea sucks now hehe. It'll look awesome once it's done, Freddie shall get you Exellence :)
