I've always noticed from about 1987 Freddie's face did look a lot bigger. The poor thing.

You know, in life there's a process called aging. When people grow old, they have a tendancy to gain weight. Freddie was in is 40s on the second picture + he was taking a lot of medicine to ease his pain.

He's still gorgeous. Even if he was sick.

Then why do brian and other look somewhat the same?

I think it must have been the medications he was taking at the time. His face looks weirdly swollen there.

And ironically, when he was in full-blown stage of AIDS, he lost weight, and his face looked more like the Freddie we knew.

So I think the answer is, it was the medication, and not just a normal process of aging.

Steroids can make what they call a "moon" face. I don't know if Freddie took steroids, but they are given for inflammatory conditions. My sister was on and off sterioids for cancer, and every time she was on them, her face got as round as a pumpkin. On the Barcelona dvd with Freddie and Montserrat Caballe, I swear if I didn't know that was Freddie, I wouldn't have recognized him. The round chipmunk face, the unfamiliar stage movements, the changed voice.

Oh my, does this mean Roger may have ass-cancer?
