"Freddie" Mercury, Yahoo! news

Yahoo news reported today that Sacha Baron Cohen is (yet again) rumored to play "Freddie" Mercury. It really pisses me off that FREDDIE Mercury is so often spelled wrong. This man was a pivotal figure in modern rock and roll and no doubt one of the greatest composers of our time. Freddie deserves to have his name spelled right, period.

When you see "Freddie", please join me in emailing these news forums to let them know the correct spelling of Freddie's name. He deserves it.

Completely agree!

That was the first thing I noticed. :/

I wonder who's more credible...the people who say Cohen will play "Freddie" or the people who say Cohen WON'T play "Freddie." (And they published these articles on the same day!)

Hmm.
Since you're into emailing for good causes, how about asking President Bush to sign up to the Kyoto agreement, or agitating for the cessation of all nuclear weapon programmes.

Instead of worrying about the spelling of a dead guy's name.
^thats all you refer to Freddie as is "some dead guy". Wow...some of the things people say *shakes head*

XD

Well, there is one thing you have to realise and that's that the common spelling of the name IS, in fact, Freddie.
I'm not saying that I like the people who misspell it. I think they're total idiots too. But I'm just saying it's a common mistake for that reason.

I think it looks really weird with a "Y."

Probably my biased FreddIE loving opinion.

P.S. Do you have a link to the article? Thanks.
that whole 'freddie'-'Freddie'-thing is a great criterium to check wether a site/book/article etc. has any value.

t.ex. a great 'encyclopedia of rock' with Freddie's name spelled as 'Freddie' probably sucks.
Ugh! Here's another example. Yahoo France is no better than the others:
"Indéniable révélation anglaise de 2007, Mika est le fils spirituel d'Elton John et de Freddie Mercury"

translate: "Mika is the spiritual son of Elton John and Freddie Mercury"...
