You're in the UK, have you heard of the service called Any Question Answered (text 63336 you get one free question from their website as well), they've never failed me yet and I sent them your question, cheating I know. They replied "The 2 words are repairable and reparable. Repairable has 10 letters with 5 vowels & 5 consonants. Removing the 'i' gives reparable which is a synonym."

The time taken for them to answer was 2 minutes - don't know how they do it!!
