hello, queen music is really carcterized by the voice of freddie, that's why i think that no queen song can be performed and sound like real queen without him, til today georges michael is to me the one who gave freddie the best tribute in terms of voice i mean.

Well, i think Brian's guitar gave Queen as much character as freddies voice.
I think Brian is at least 85% of the Queen sound.
Songs where Freddie doesn't sing (lead)vocals also sound like Queen. Think of songs like Long Away, Leaving Home, Rock It, '39, No one but You and so on.
Also Brian's solo stuff sounds very much like Queen. Especially stuff like Driven by You, Nothing but Blue, Wilderness Child and Business.
Rogers drums are also very special for the Queen sound. The difference between for example Cozy Powell or Eric Singer and Roger playing one of the Queen parts is so easy to hear. Roger has a unique playing style which also adds very much to the sound.
Freddie's solo songs on the other hand don't sound anything like Queen. Except that they happen to have the same lead vocalist.

I think Freddie has more impact than Brian, just because my favorite numbers are Freddie-written...
personally, i think Brian wrote the better songs out of the group, on the whole.

I agree, but he also wrote alot that wasn't.
Backchat( imho, crap although the solo is pretty damn good) and I think he had something to do with my baby does me and rain must fall. the first of which is also pretty crap and the secind isn't great.
but he did write things like You're my best friend, and i want to break free and if you cant beat them join em.

My point wasn't that he was an overwhelming influence that defined the totality or even majority of Queen - but my point was that Queen was more than just four guys.
They were Queen - together.

I agree with you 100%. Even songs sung by Brian/Roger have that distinct 'Queen' sound. But I can't believe you forgot to mention "All Dead" which is also sung by Brian. =P

And if he wanted to sound like Queen why did he ask some guitar played to immitate Brians style and sound.

'Seaside Rendezvous' sounds Queen, imo, and it doesn't have Brian. As a matter of fact, it doesn't have guitars. Same for most of 'Don't Stop Me', and some other tracks here and there, like 'Melancholy Blues'. Likewise, 'Sleeping On The Sidewalk' sounds Queen-esque without Fred's voice or keyboards, and so does 'Good Company'. What do all those songs have in common? Roger and John.

John and Roger were the bands foundations, so it's natural that they are always there. I agree that Roger also does a lot for the sound, and John also a bit. But certainly not as much as Brian.
Also it's a bit hard to determine John's contribution to the sound, cause he never had a solo carreer, so we can't compare it very well.
