Yes, I have some dim recollection of this group - it was some awful 70s glam outfit, you know with make up, long hair, glitter and all that stuff. The song did not impress me at all, no idea what it was about. I don't think it was ever heard of again.

I feel sorry for you! I hate that song! It's horrible! And the lead singer...some fellow that had a planet for a last name...he was gay! And he wore these atrocious tight body-suits all the time...It was disgusting!

Mine was 'Groovin'' by the Young Rascals, but while there 'Love Me Do' caught my eye on the same page.   Unless it was in and out of number one over a bit of time, our birthdays must be close.  :)

Nobody ever told me what it was, but according to Wikipedia, it was Barbara Streisand with "Woman In Love".

Although it wasn't number one when my sister was born, Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" was playing on the radio in the hospital as my mum was giving birth....rather beautifully, my sister arrived to the opening line "welcome to your life"!
