Well, hello dear Zoners.
I was just fooling around on my good old bass guitar, and then the idea of playing bowed bass came to me. I know this has been done before by various artists.
So, does anyone here have any experience with bowed bass? It would be delightful if you'd be so kind to share anything with me. I tried playing with rulers, shoehorns, frisbees, basically anything I could find, but then I realized it might actually fuck up my beloved strings. Then there's always the option of getting a proper bow.
So... bowed bass, anyone?

You will need proper strings for bowing; they might be a bit hard to come by for a bass-guitar.

Yeah, I've heard about that little thing.
It's evil.

Double post, fucked up.
^ Fucked up where?
And if you want to bow a bass you have to change the guitar a bit. Since you would need an arched Nut, bridge and neck, otherwise you won't be able to bow the inner strings

I remember when I saw The Edge from U2 using that on the Sydney/Zoo TV DVD I was so confused, because I had no idea what that thing was.
But since I read a huge magazine article about EBows, I've been daydreaming about them.

They're little more than a gimmick though; they give you very little influence over your sound. So either someone improves the design dramatically, or they die out.
