I'm not sure if you are still having the lyrngitis problem, but I can help. When I was training as a singer at an intensive, month long camp, I got an awful case of it too...from singing too much (8 hours of rehersals a day, combined with dance and almost no sleep).
One of the profs there told me this: Drinking is the best way to prevent lyrngitis, but once you've got it, it doesn't do much good. That doesn't mean you should stop drinking, as it will speed the recovery process. But since your vocal chords are in your windpipe, and not your esophagus, drinking lots of water only helps them to re-hydrate indirectly. The best way to get it back, the prof said, is to steam them.
It's easy...either shut up the bathroom and leave the hot water on in the shower until it builds up tons of steam...then sit in there for about 10-15 minutes and just breathe in the steam. Or, you can take a bowl of boiling water, drape a towel over your head, and inhale the steam (if you do it that way, you can add herbs that can help calm things down, like Chamomile).
Inhaling the steam means that you actually get water directly on the vocal chords, which is the fastest way to re-hydrate them. Trust me, I've used this method many times, and it works like a charm. It may take two or three treatments, but it cuts recovery time down to a day, max.
The last time I used this, I had just lead tours in the museum I was interning at for 4 days straight, and my voice was shot. I did this when I got home that night and again before I went to bed, and by the next morning I was back to 80% of normal.
Best of luck!
letting me rub the goose fat into your chesticles would of worked just as well...
Methinks you are much too familiar with goose fat. I wonder what a single guy like yourself could use something that slippery for....
Oh, never mind. I think I know ;-)
