It was 1975. The year in music was boring. Very boring. At least to so many of us young girls back then, it was. Suddenly, there was this song ... this magnificent song .... and this magnificent voice. "Mama ... just killed a man". Who WAS this group Queen? Who was this singer? I remember almost all of us wondered this. We discussed this at lunch, turned it loud on the radio, bought the album to see what else this group had to offer. Freddie's voice never ceased to fill me with that sense of wonder. This rock singer could actually SING! Years later, I played the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" to my son to show him an example of a musical term, and my song wondered, "Who IS this band? Who IS this singer?" He became a Queen fan shortly afterwards. Could it be so long ago that that voice was quieted? It doesn't seem so. My son wishes he could have heard Freddie perform live. I wish it could be so, too. No one's voice is quite as magical now. RIP, Freddie.

you died when i was 4months old and i never knew you while you were alive so i treasure your music and the fact that you went on making people happy right til the end. your bravery has been my insperation since i was 11 and you made me see that no one can crush your spirit unless you let them. you made so many people happy and you make me get throughthe bad times. i wish you were still with us.

I just wanted to let all the guys from Queen, including Freddie, because I know he can hear us all...thank for the years of great music and thank you Freddie for teaching me how to be a great front-man on stage because without your influences, music and showmanship, I wouldn't be able to do what I do today. Freddie Mercury was the greatest of all time. No one comes within miles of his greatness. All you hear in America is about how great Aerosmith, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi are/were and never anything about the Queen legacy. Queen and Freddie Mercury were better than any of em by a long shot. My first son shall be named Freddie in his honor.
