The programme is to be broadcast sometime before Christmas on the BBC and is to be released on DVD next March as part of the Eagle Vision’s Classic Albums series.

QOL saw the 50 minute TV version – the DVD will feature 50 minutes bonus footage that includes pieces on The Prophet Song and God Save The Queen, which were both bizarrely missing in the version we saw. Brian and Roger are interviewed throughout and we even get a few new interview performances of ‘’39’ and ‘Love Of My Life’ by Brian and even a short clip of Roger doing ‘I’m In Love With My Car’ acoustically!

Official Product Info is as follows:

Queen are one of the most popular and enduring rock bands ever to come out of Britain. With global album sales in excess of 50,000,000 they have achieved levels of success that most bands can only dream about. Formed in 1971, they signed to EMI in 1973 and released three modestly successful albums before really hitting their stride with the career defining “A Night At The Opera” led by one of the greatest rock songs of all time “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

“The Making Of A Night At The Opera” tells the track by track story of the album through new interviews with Brian May, Roger Taylor and producer Roy Thomas Baker along with archive interviews with Freddie Mercury and contributions from photographer Mick Rock, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Ian Hunter from Mott The Hoople amongst others. Illustrated by classic live footage, much of it from the Hyde Park free concert in 1976, and in depth studio analysis the film gives an intimate portrait of the making of a true classic album.

In addition to the 50 minute TV version, as broadcast on BBC TV, there are over 50 minutes of bonus footage including the following:

Party Of The First Part - How the album got its title by Roger Taylor.
’39 - Full new acoustic performance by Brian May.
Half A Sonic Volcano - Roger Taylor gives his drum kit a work out.
Sweet Lady - Brian May introduces the full live performance from the Hyde Park free concert in 1976.
The Prophet’s Song - A more in depth analysis by Brian May and Roy Thomas Baker intercut with live footage from the Hyde Park free concert.
Love Of My Life - Full track intercutting between a new acoustic performance by Brian May and a stadium performance by Brian and Freddie.
Bohemian Rhapsody - Kenny Everett talks about the first time he heard the song and Brian May, Roger Taylor and Roy Thomas Baker go into more detail about the construction of the song illustrated by clips from the video.
God Save The Queen - Brian May brings A Night At The Opera to a close.

The title is being simultaneously released on DVD and UMD for the PSP.
