After two weeks writing in Dorset, she ensconced herself in Wales' famous Rockfield studios to get it all down. But the pressure of the famous walls, where Freddie Mercury wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, was too much and after recording one song, the lush and adventurous Beauty of Uncertainty, she soon decamped to the more familiar surrounds of London.

"I just thought that Queen, Led Zeppelin and the Stone Roses were all in the studio staring at me while I was trying to make my second record," she says, laughing. "And I came to the conclusion that I needed to be sleeping in my own bed, speaking with my friends and having a bit of a life."
