It's just a plain crappy funk/techno song recorded with no inspiration, soul or heart. Take Freddie's voice of that and you wouldn't be able to tell it apart from any other crappy song from that time. It hard to imagine that the same person who gave us "Bo-rap" also gave us this pile of shit.

The album was a major flop, it didn't bring the band justice generally speaking. However, it was still the old traditional Queen style of experimenting with different styles of music. You either love it or you hate it...I happen to appreciate it for what it is, a work of art. The album seperates itself from all the others. It is very unique and therefore should be looked upon as an experimental work of art.
I'm sure Queen knew they were taking a major risk, but they were the kind of guys who didn't give a crap. They were already major influences in rock and roll, so what did they have to lose? People in America are still very knowledgeable of Queen's existence. It's a load of crap to say that America "hates" Queen and have forgotten about them. The way I see it is that they were outragious, flamboyant, exciting, surprising, and an overall stand out group of musicians. So they screwed up in 1982, but it didn't kill them. They stood strong and still managed to release quality hits in 1984 and onward.
You have to respect them for their courage.

However, if Freddie's vocals were already recorded in the early eightees then the lyrics must have been written in the early eightees! I could be wrong, but I know for a fact that You Don't Fool Me was a rejected or unfinished song that could have been on the Hot Space album.
Although that is merely a speculation and not a proven fact, it is a pretty damn good theory. Oh yes...if any of you have something to contribute would you be as so kind as to enlighten us? We want facts and maybe a few speculations/interpretations.
