Where does this footage show up?
Perhaps the first half of BoRhap is from one of the Paris shows, but it's impossible to tell because the audio of that part is overdubbed with Live Killers. But the last part of BoRhap is definitely from Japan (listen to how bad Freddie's voice sounds). It wasn't nearly that bad in Europe. Same goes for Sheer Heart Attack. I can be sure it's from Japan.

I also know for sure WWRY is from Japan, because Freddie comes out on the Superman with glasses... not to mention the audio of the screaming girls mixed in with the Live Killers audio.

Now it's just a matter of figuring out which Japanese show it is. For now, I can confirm it's not from the Tokyo April 14, Osaka April 19/20, Kanazawa April 21, April 23/24/25 Tokyo, and Sapporo May 6 shows. That leaves 7 more, 5 of which are on tape.

Any help?

I'm in the group of lazy people together with bobby_brown :D

Ohh, Sir, don't get bored, I'm just joking..

I agree with you, about the source of this show.. and overall the quality is not so excellent.. I've heard the intro of Sheer Heart Attack is from Live Killers album, like Now I'm Here, which is almost completely not a/v synchronised.. and the guitar solo of BoRhap is not complete in the audio, and going on it is interrupted in the video with a sort of fade out...

Anyway.. this dvd could be a nice live.. keeping in mind that it is a compilation of audio and video from some Live Killers shows..

Exactly. Just be sure that it's not the videos of the actual Live Killers performances, but rather the Live Killers audio dubbed to the footage. Sometimes it doesn't synch up perfectly, so that gives it away.

anyone got some artwork for this?

I would suggest it might be Fukuoka 1 May 1979. Here is the first 1.5 minutes of Sheer Heart Attack which sounds quite close to the version in the video.

What does anybody else think?
Thanks for posting that Ginger, but no, that's not it. We're getting close, though! Freddie's voice is in the same shape, so it must be from a show around this week. How about the first night in Fukuoka?

Or dare I ask someone to post a sample from Yamaguchi 5-2-79?

After that, only Nagoya 4-28-79 and Sapporo 5-5-79 are left (and Sapporo's recording cuts out part way through). I doubt Freddie's voice was in such bad shape on the Apr 13 in Tokyo.

Hey, check the 4/25/79 show again.

http://rapidshare.com/files/38990434/23_-_Sheer_Heart_Attack.mp3.html

He has on (off) the same color suspenders as he did on the rest of the 4/25 footage. I think we got a match. Judging by stage dress isn't very reliable, but from what I could tell with the suspenders;

Black/Silver: Paris 2/28
Red: Paris 3/1
Blue: Tokyo 4/25

It all adds up.

-edit-

Boh Rhap matches up as well.
Mystery solved. Good job, Smitty. You're hired!

I can't believe myself... clearly my ears were failing me when I originally checked the 4-25-79 recording! So, from Tokyo 4-25-79, here's what we know exists:

We Will Rock You (fast) - Japan TV
Let Me Entertain You - Japan TV
Killer Queen - Japan TV
Bicycle Race - Japan TV
I'm In Love With My Car - Japan TV
Now I'm Here - US TV (small segment - "Down in the city...")
Teo Torriatte - Japan TV
Don't Stop Me Now - Japan TV
Brian introducing Roger before '39 - US TV
Keep Yourself Alive - Japan TV
Bohemian Rhapsody - Japan TV
Sheer Heart Attack - US TV
We Will Rock You - Japan / US TV (different angles)
We Are The Champions - Japan TV
God Save The Queen - US TV

From Paris 2-28-79:
Let Me Entertain You - US TV
Somebody To Love - convention video
If You Can't Beat Them - convention video
Get Down Make Love - US TV (some of the middle section)
Now I'm Here - US TV (a few bits)
Bohemian Rhapsody - convention video
Tie Your Mother Down - convention video / US TV
Sheer Heart Attack - convention video, US TV (15 seconds of Roger)
We Will Rock You - US TV (10 seconds of Roger)

From Paris 3-1-79:
We Will Rock You (fast) - convention video
Let Me Entertain You - convention video
Fat Bottomed Girls - convention video
You're My Best Friend - convention video
Now I'm Here - convention video
Don't Stop Me Now - convention video
Mustapha intro - convention video
If You Can't Beat Them - convention video
Spread Your Wings - convention video
Love Of My Life - some parts used for official video
Dreamers Ball - convention video
Tie Your Mother Down - US TV
We Are The Champions - US TV

And finally, the "good night" from the convention video is Paris 2-27-79. For anyone copying all this into their records, note that some of the US TV footage uses Live Killers for the audio. As always, I welcome any input, but I must say I feel 100% sure of everything I've written above. And finally, as long as the footage has kept well over the years, there is definitely enough of it for an official 1979 DVD. Whether or not it'll be done is another thing, of course.

Hooray, we finally cracked the "Live Killers" of TV specials.
Haha... nice pun.

Now, the only thing I'm confused about is the Love Of My Life video. We all know they used the Live Killers audio for it, and it seems that the footage comes from Japan, as Freddie is wearing his blue suspenders. But it couldn't have been shot during the concert in Tokyo on 4-25-79, because they didn't play the song that night. There are two audio sources for this show, and both are missing the song (on my source there definitely is not a cut at that point in the recording).

Note that during the video you never actually see a genuine shot of Freddie or Brian with the audience at the same time. So the question is, is the footage of this song actually from another Japanese concert, or did they shoot it during the day of 4-25-79 (or even at the soundcheck)? The film crew was there, so my theory is that the band utilized them before the show. In addition to that, wouldn't a good reason for the song's omission at the 4-25-79 concert be that they had already played it enough times for the video shoot earlier in the day?

And for the record, the "DVD" shared here is beyond lossy. It was created from a VCD quality MPEG-1 file that was shared here a while back.

Thanks.
Look out, take care, there's a lot of music out there...

I'm thinking probably soundcheck. What's sort of odd is that during the close up shot of Freddie from the video, he actually stops singing and they fade in the footage from the Paris 3/1 show. Just inferring here, but more than likely Freddie was a bit sick that night (thus the terrible voice) and he was saving whatever was left of it for the concert later. Or, seeing as how during the footage, he stops singing and then they pause the Tokyo footage as the Paris footage is playing, maybe that's when he talked to a sound guy or something, who knows?

I don´t know if this will add something to the discussion, but when Freddie sings "...Love of my life can´t you see..." at 1.23min with Red suspenders(?) Freddie is clearly singing that part on the video, but it´s not on the audio.

So, if he sings that line in one of the japanese concerts, then you have your footage date. If not, then it´s probably like you´ve said. They´ve pre shot this video. And if this happened then it must have happened with the red suspenders Freddie, because he´s on his foot during the first verse and he doesn´t have a towel (i just didn´t find this very natural, but we´ll never know!).

Take care

But judging by the fact that since I posted that explanation another 80 people downloaded the show without adding anything to the discussion, I can only conclude that people are lazy, needy, uncritical of what they download, or any combination of the three.

Or maybe they just want to watch a good Queen bootleg and don't give a rat's ass about the rest, Bob.

Not everyone is a Queen "collector". Many are just *fans*.
