ANNOUNCE - 1978 Lakeland Civic Center Radio Ad

After over a year of filling up my harddrive with great concerts from Queenzone, it's time to start giving back. This isn't much, I know, but it's a start...

60-second radio ad for the Queen concert on November 4, 1978, at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland, Florida.

First few seconds of the ad are missing.

The radio ad doesn't mention the year, but according to QueenConcerts.com they only played two shows in Lakeland and the 1978 show was on a Saturday.

98Rock was (and still is) an FM radio station in Tampa, Florida, which is about 30 miles from Lakeland.

Found this tape (with 3 others) about 15 years ago in the bottom of a box on the floor in a great record store in Tampa, FL. The other tapes had some Queen rarities (Larry Lurex, Smile, etc.) and some interviews on them recorded, I think, off the air, including a Midnight Special appearance from TV (audio only, of course). I haven't found the other tapes yet.

Anyone else have any Queen radio ads?

The strange thing was the radio promoting a Queen 1978 concert with songs from thei first four albums with focus on QueenII.

Is this really 78? Because it would make more sense to hear WATC or WWRY or the Rock songs.

Considering that Queen played that venue in 77 and 78, which one is it? I guess we have to take his word. :) As far as the promo with Killer Queen and others, this doesn't mean anything, that is what they were famous for at that point, why no BoRap is a good question, but i would think no WWRY or WATC because this was early 78 and WWRY & WATC didn't enter the Billboard in the US until 78.

I'd say the given date is correct, because the 11-4-78 show was on a Saturday night, and the ticket price is correct (unlike the 2-20-77 show).
