we all know that fredy was gay, i mean bi-sexual, but what about the rest of the band?
they had to be flaming homos to keep up with fred's antics. how else would you explain a band named queen?
arena rock? nope. glam rock? maybe.
gay rock? now your talkin.
do i have a thing against gays? yes.
the only one in the band that wasn't a homosexual was john. he had two kids.
and he played slap bass.
don't get me wrong. i listen to be bop deluxe and gentle giant. i know what music is all about but good grief, how gay can a rock band get?
i think that queen should beef up their image alittle bit. especially if they want to sell more records.
like Freddie said, it's all about selling records.[/QUOTE]
I think the theory here is that they can be themselves with their image, gay or not and it not affect their sales.
The assumption here is that anyone who holds your opinion as stated would almost certainly be far too stupid to be capable of holding a job which pays enough for the luxury of owning music.
Grow up, or cease to exist. Either way is fine.
There is nothing I can think of more nasty than male gayness but I certainly am not going to let that interfere with my enjoyment of a gay man's music, art or creation. Only complete idiots, hate mongers and/or hopelessly f'ed in the head misfits would post what you wrote.
Thou protest too much. Dumbass!

OK after 15 years of enjoying this in Queen forums, I have to finally ask the question: Are Queen fans generally clueless? The first post was obviously a joke - aka "satire"! - yet Queen fans don't understand basic literary concepts such as that. If it had happened in a Pink Floyd forum, then everyone would have spotted that immediately.
This reminds me of the Amazon.com reviewer who would give Queen and Pink Floyd albums terrible reviews, saying they don't hold up to Britney Spears' Greatest Hits or something ridiculous. The Pink Floyd fans thought it was hilarious, the Queen fans thought the guy was serious (and out of their stupidity got his account deleted).
Is it because so many Queen fans are from other countries and don't understand the language well enough? Do they just not have a sense of humor? I always figured Queen fans were probably brilliant, but now...though I hate to think Queen fans are dumb, they ironically sure haven't had any problem calling the original poster that....
(And this message won't make a difference anyway, so I don't know why I'm posting it, I guess I'll just continue to enjoy the replies to Don't Try Suicide for years to come....

I have noticed a decided lack of sarcastic-detection on this site. There was an interesting thread recently extent that asked why this forum in particular draws so many folks with mental problems. I have known several Queen fans in my time, and have found the majority of them to be well-balanced individuals with an (obviously) refined sense of good music. I am also a member of numerous other online forums, and I can honestly say I have never stumbled across a board so rife with lunatics and angry people. I believe this lack of sarcasm-detection ties in with the odd and idiosyncratic crowd this site seems to draw like flies to a rotting carcass (or honey, whichever you find more palatable).
On the plus side, this site also plays host to a number of very good-natured and spiffy members, and the community never ceases to entertain me at great length. It's a mixed bag, to be certain, but I don't believe Queen fans (as a whole) are a mentally inferior bunch. A little touchy, perhaps, but people who enjoy Queen tend to be mocked by non-fans who characterize our favourite artist as 'stupid gay flaming etc etc.' I remember being persecuted for my love of their music in High School, and one of my best friends still makes disparaging remarks after all these years. It can make a good fan a little paranoid, I suppose.

A joke?
Maybe my interpretation of a joke is different from yours but wouldn't some form of humour need to be involved somewhere for it to constitute a joke? Maybe something somewhere that could get a laugh, a smile, maybe even a smirk?
If that's someone's idea of a joke than let's just say that there are some seriously off people out there. There is no satire, there is no comedy, just gimpish nonsense.
If I was the original writer of this post, I would rather be thought to have been a gay-hating prick than to have meant it as a joke. At least a rude, hateful ass is better than a complete retard with no perception of reality.
Or is there a punchline yet to be written?
There are some seriously disturbed minds out there.

is goinback the only one in here that understands sarcasm?
do you really think what i wrote was serious?
people re-read my post again. it's complete nonsence. how can you not see the humor in it? it's mind boggeling that you guys are that dense.
yes my humor might be a little dry but jesus, you have to lighten up.
how many times in your life have you heard people make fun of queen? i've had to put up with it for the last 15 years. and do you know how i deal with it? i ignore them. it's not worth the effort to argue about something so meaningless. queen is my favorite and i don't feel i have to waste time by explaining it to people. they have their opinions and i have mine.
i didn't want to come on here and reveal that the joke is actually on you; because it's really intertaining for me to read your comments. but christ all mighty, i guess it's time i fess up.
im not being serious. queen is my favorite band. why else would i spend time on here? think about it guys.
and for the last time, lighten up.
