Hi Barb! - Yeah, I've probably only looked here twice in the past few months but a Prince thread is always too much to resist.

PG - first night they were really relaxed, but Prince must have had words and now its as stict as normal, strictly no camera's / recording equipment. They search all bags but I've not been frisked once so if it was in your back pocket I'd say you'd be fine. In the arena there is a security police going around looking for cameras etc. Only heard two bootlegs of the gigs (3rd and 4th) - neither are that good. Sound in the arena is not the best, but although the shows are quite short (circa 100 mins) they are pretty good.

Went 1st, 7th, 14th and aftershow. Going tonight, then Sept 9th, 16th and 20th. Are you going on the 16th then PG?

Hi Lisser! Happy birthday by the way!!

As for the football - it's England, what else did I expect!! I shall be more worried about the games next month as they are proper qualifiers.

Too much information...LOL
I thought those two shows sounded ok (if a little distant) to be honest - also a little disappointed with the length of the set, but then the tickets are cheap...

Apparently there's a tape of the 24th around too - I thought Prince fans were ardent tapers so expected loads, but apparently not. Hopefully I'll get something usable on the 16th (yes, there are four of us going) - will let you know, natch.
I was actaully dissapointed with last nights show. Played only 21.15 - 22.45 and that's including on off for encores etc. Was okay material but nothing imaginative. This tour is nowhere near the calibre of 2002 for me.

I did notice metal detectors yesterday, but again, I just walked through the section that says no bags.

Yeah, I've now got the bootleg for 24th. Not listened to it yet, but I think the quality is meant to be better than the 3rd/4th. I think 11th and 25th nights are just about to come into circulation also. Still non of the nights I was at mind!
So metal detectors only used if you have a bag?

useful to know
Have got the 11th now, Quality is pretty good.
Hopefully 1st soon. Will be interesting to see what he does over the weekend. Must be time for something new.

Am not particuarly enjoying Prince's double standards. One half of the show he is saying 'real music by real musicians', then in the encore he does synth samples and snippets of all the hits.
It's annoying as hell to hear 10 seconds of Sign O' The Times, When Doves Cry, Erotic City etc etc. Play the whole bloody thing Prince!

Do you use the royal hub PG? That's my source for material.
No, I use the general torrent bootleg sites TTD, DaD, PLG

I know I'm going to be frustrated at the hits I get snippets of, but I know there will be hits that he doesn't play at all, as with anybody one sees.
They are coming through thick at fast now. Have 1st and 7th plus 7th Aftershow. 14th Aftershow is there in snippets so might be in full by the time I get home.

I just wished he'd play some surprises ala Bambi, Empty Room & Dolphin from 2002. The main shows are getting so bog standard. The aftershow the other day seemed more like it to me, wish I'd stayed around. Chaos and Disorder and a 60 min 3 man only Guitar set. Sounds awesome.
It's hardly a problem for the average concert goers if the set list remains "bog standard" as it is now... Very few people would be going to more than a couple of shows anyway, and when I was there a few days ago for the Fri and Sat shows there must have been more than 2.5 hours of material in that 3.5 hours of total showtime.

That isn't anywhere near comparable to any other major artist who will do an identical setlist within each leg of their tours.
Well, that was pretty good.

At least, I enjoyed it...Adore, Most Beautiful Girl, Whole Lotta Love, the as-per-usual epic Purple Rain.

What does the expert say....?
Will download and listen when I get home. Did you get the whole gig or just snippets?

Sunday was enjoyable, probably not as good as the 9th when I saw it but was good and varied. He's been throwing in some surprises the last few things which is good. Adore on the 9th was the complete thing and was just awesome, really enjoyed I would Die 4 U and The One. Whole Lotta love is just awesome by Prince.
There wasn't quite enough guitar on the 16th for me, I missed Shhh but was a highly enjoyable gig for sure. Didn't see the point of getting the fit girl on the stage, then not sing to her, but at least he didn't get half the front row on for 20 mins which he's done before.

Will be a shame when this week is over and the Prince summer is also!

Every second. It's the best sounding recording I've ever had, so I'm well chuffed with it.
Sounds good PG! Glad you got brave and recorded it!

Are you going to upload it anywhere?!

I know someone who'd like it very much!!!
There's also a nice video from the Aug 25th show around, and apparently there are going to be proper film crews for the final two shows...
