I mean he's done some shit movies, that's true, but not all of them have been bad, and like FairyKing said it's a risk that actors take as even phenomenal actors will make a shit movie eventually. And it's always sad to learn that someone is suffering so badly they want to end their lives.
Here's hoping he gets the help he needs. [/QUOTE]
There's nothing official about the "suicide attempt" rumor. Besides, serious subjects need to be subjected to humour too. It helps people deal with them.

Starsky and Hutch was on telly here yesterday.
Okay, I watched it because of Ben Stiller.

I guess it's official:
Police were called to Owen Wilson's home because of an attempted suicide report, according to a police log of weekend calls.
The log doesn't indicate who made the call Sunday, but lists "attempt suicide" as the reason for it.
Wilson was in good condition Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Hospital officials said Tuesday they weren't releasing any updated information.
The actor's publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined to answer questions Tuesday about whether Wilson attempted to commit suicide. She said Wilson's statement asking for privacy was all that was being released.

It's obvious that some people here have never suffered from depression or any other psychological disorder.
Believe it or not, it's a serious issue. Make fun of it if you want, but I don't enjoy making light of other people's suffering.

^ ah! i knew it.
for the record, ive dealt with it for 11 years. it sucks, but the best anyone can do is get treatment if it hinders lives, or try and laugh at it theirselves, and be surrounded by good and supportive people. i do hope he gets some kind of treatment.
owen is lucky enough to have a career most would kill for, and from what most can see, a loving and supportive family. as far as im concerned, hes a brat if he refuses to see that, and choses to go down an undesirable path, and that is his choice. i can only hope in the end he makes the right choice, by seeking some kind of treatment.
myself, i have never wanted suicide, but ive had moments i wish i were never born, so i wouldnt have known what suffering like that, is like. i actually fear death, because i feel like i havent lived my life enough, and i know im here for a reason, and i hope to fufill that reason. in depression, i can understand finding life undesirable to live after a while, but again, if treated, and put in a good environment, it can be helped. im sorry, but i feel no sympathy to those who have attempted suicide...but ive been thru this discussion before, and i dont feel like fighting, so ill stop right there.

i dont want to make fun one little bit but...
i cant help but remember the story about one of S-club7 who tried to kill herself by sticking her head in an electric oven whenever i hear of a celebrity suicide attempt.
its a cry for help and hopefully now he can get it and sort himself out.
im not exactly a fan mind you..

Luckily for me, I don't have the guts to commit suicide, and have never tried it (so I do not know if "I'm just gonna hate it"). Hopefully, I hope I never consider suicide an option again.
Luckily my bipolar illness is sort of a textbook case and reasonably treatable. I have met many people who's minds are much more screwed up more than my mind. Hopefully, there is still hope for them.

Anyone who suffers from true clinical depression knows that it doesn't matter how much money you have, how successful your career is, how big your house is, how many cars you own, etc, etc. "Things" don't help true depression. It is a disease. Its like saying a diabetic who is rich and famous shouldn't need insulin because of their station in life. I've suffered with depression most of my adult life. I truly came alive 10 years ago with a wonderful doctor and the right course of treatment. I hope that Owen is as lucky and get the help that he deserves.

as a diabetic i must point out one little detail.
not all diabetics are on medication ie insulin.
my diabetes is controlled purely on a healthy diet and im not on any medication now because of it.so in a way, having a better station in life actually improves the control of diabetes as one can eat a better quality of food and not sugary rubbish ie "buy one,get one free" from cheap downmarket supermarkets.
recent reports here in the UK regarding diabetes suggests that people living on a minimum wage are twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes later in life than those on high incomes due to the quality of food that they eat.

Let's just hope that Tom Cruise doesn't come along asking Owen Wilson to let him help overcome his depression through vitamins only to trap him into his cult.
