btw, I did also copy the VHS tape directly to my DVD recorder. That should be some kind of one-on-one copy. No quality loss I mean. If you can say that from a VHS tape with a minor quality videoclip on it of course :-)

EDITED: Thanks! Is that the VCD MPG you mentioned? I don't suppose you remember if the AVI was in a higher resolution or whether the interlacing was intact in it?

EDITED: Well the quality of that transfer depends ultimately on the DVD recorder, but you're correct. That copy would be exactly as good as the tape: no better and no worse. I'd therefore be VERY interested to see this, as it'll certainly be an upgrade on any version I have so far. Copying the files from the DVD into a ZIP or RAR would probably be the easiest way.

And a high bitrate mpeg2 is ALWAYS better then a low bitrate mpeg1 :)
well i love this very interesting puzzle,i remember watching this on totp in 74 and only managed to get a copy years later.the story i have is that somebody who worked for the bbc was searching through the vaults and came across it relized what he had found and stole it(hence the story of the beeb not having a copy)he then transferd it to vhs as it was on some other format(unknown),then some how ruined the original so the only surviving recording was a not a very good copy.now that copy was transferd again and this is where the copy everybody seems to have has comes from originaly.some where in my collection of vhs tapes i have a slightly better version which came direct from the first copy which i have not been able to find, i have posted a copy some time ago which was the second version.i am hoping that the first version i have as not been recorded over or lost...when i do finally find it i promise that you the fans will be the first to have it....in a previous post i was slagged off queenzoners saying i did not have a better version!! belive me or not i don't care i know what i have somewhere

Hello Andy1962. Oh man, i remember that post :-)
You´re just having problems posting torrents, and if i´m not mistaken you´ve uploaded in an external tracker (not Queenzone). I couldn´t download it at the time, but i hope you´ll find the best version.
And by the way, you have proved in the past to have a great collection of Queen stuff and your efforts learning to work with Flac -after much discussion : ) - were much appreciated.
