No wait a minute, this discussion is going a strange way...
Any new album by any artist needs to be and will be promoted. One of the most common ways of doing so is by some sort of a single. So it is NOT weird that QP decides to release a cut from WWRY. (Err... sorry 'Queen Rock Montreal'that is)
Releasing ANYTHING that is NOT on or related to that release (like ANY of the unreleased songs mentioned above by several people) now THAT would be weird and uncomprehandable.
The fact that Queen release this as a download only is in my opinion a good thing. Physical singels don't sell at all anymore in this day and age and downloads ARE what is common nowadays.
I even see the bright side: it would have been so easy for QP to release this single as a 7", 12", CD single, cd digipack, 7" picture disc, 12" coloured vinyl and a whole series of different promo-pressings that we, the fans and collectors, ALWAYS invest a lot of money in.
Now they have chosen to release it as a download only there is absolutely no need for any fan or collector to fork out again.
So for ONE time QP decides to do something that does NOT milk the fans' money and still everyone is complaining?!

Bollocks. It's a live archive release not a new studio album. The idea of a single off this is laughable at best. That coupled with the fact that KYA live at Montreal isn't even new.
"Kes" the QP stooge on the official forum is "pushing" for a CD release & it seems the admin is also trying to get a CD release - just so some obsessive collectors can have another CD with something they already have? Please.

It got A LOT of airplay on radio as well as tv and gave the album most certainly an incredible boost in sales!

Upload track for downloading is much cheaper than to press all those items you wrote about therefore anticipated profit will be much higher. QP as any other business companies cares about its profit, not about "we should drain purse of Queen fans, hahaha (evil)" - so this is not about their kind and sweet decision.
And actually it's pretty stupid to "promote" live album which will be released on CD and DVD by the downloadable live edit version of little-known (to non-Queen fans, Queen fans already have Montreal show and will buy new releases without any kind of promotion) song. They could release live version God Save The Queen as well with same sales' effect.

Last time I checked lots of bands released singles as a digital release. It's not even the future, fellow Queen fans--it's what's happening now.
I can see how people see digital files as the end of the world. Fine. But do picture the 9- or 10-year-old who is first exposed to Queen by way of this live track, the same as I was when I got a copy of Live Killers from my aunt's record club. It's not about the delivery mechanism--it's about the MUSIC!

True - it's about the music, but 9 year olds do not download music with their credit cards :-) The aunt probably buys the CD or LP or DVD or even owns the DVD from 2001 or 1998 or the old VHS tape...
