At least you tried, Microwave, I have to give you that.
Why you are offended when I make a joke about a political satirist who pretends to run for President is beyond me and it's certainly not "Anti-American". Your idea that only Americans have the right to say something funny or even critical about your country is ridiculous. We all say what we want about whichever country we want. It's called freedom of speech. If you take it personal when I call your President an idiot (which I haven't done so far) or when I criticize the politics of your government, that's really your problem. Not very mature, though.
Here are a few jokes for you (from Germans)
AMERICA: We have: George Bush Stevie Wonder Bob Hope Jonny Cash
GERMANY We have: Angela Merkel No Wonder No Hope No Cash
Germany did not want another man as a chancellor but was not ready for a woman, either. Now we have a compromise.
Bush, Sarkozy (Sar-KO-zee)and Merkel are stranded on a small island. Suddenly a fairy appears and grants each of them a wish. Says Merkel "I want to be back home" and wusssh - she is gone. Sarkozy is next and he says: "I want to be back in Paris" - wusssh - he is gone. Bush looks around puzzled and says " Oh, I am all alone, I wish Sarkozy and Merkel were back...."

Bah... you all complain about Bush and Merkel, when there's people which are worse, like Chavez which is a die hard comunist and it's leaving my country in misery.

You know History Girl, it will be interesting to see if the Democratic Party ever gets elected into office again with that lineup of dipshits running.
Sorry, but I don't take too well to "outsiders" bashing. Live here and have a problem fine. Come from a country who had a ruler responsible for the DEATHS OF MILLIONS? I would think you wouldn't want to spout off too much. Not Barb!!!

That rant is so 1946.
I think it's quite pathetic that the only German bashing Microwave can come up with is for something that happened more than 60 years ago.
Just in case you didn't know, on the lower right corner of your screen there's a clock, if you click twice it will tell you that this is 2007.[/QUOTE]

Q - What is the difference between a politican and a Catfish?
A - One is a bottom dwelling scum-sucker, the other is a fish.
Appoligies to all 6 of the politicans in my family, except for ol' Keith. He didn't have the guts to stand up to President Johnson, and in the process pissed the whole country off.

Wow...you have some issues with anyone who isn't from the US don't you? That is really sad. First point...the democrats will win this election no matter which of the "dipshits" get the nomination. After 8 years of Republicans (and one can debate since they GREATLY expanded the size, scope and cost of government, since they were supposed to keep it small by their party mantra) there is no way they will get re-elected. Just look at the numbers.
Two: Yes, Barb is German. We have a German student in the history department that I'm very close to. We have a professor here that studies Nazi Germany and issues like how much the average German knew about the Concentration Camps. You can't hold the Germans of today responsible for what Hitler did. First off...Hitler wasn't German. He was Austrian. The Germans of today are terribly embarassed at what happend in the past, and I seriously doubt Barb had anything to do with it at all.
Using your logic, you should hold yourself accountable for the Massacre of the Native Americans, and the Work Camps for Japanese in WWII here. But I'll bet you don't, do you?

By the way, you might wanna talk to Chuck:

The cult hero of “Walker Texas Ranger” fame said Monday he’s backing Republican Mike Huckabee for president.

1. No, I don't hold myself accountable, I count myself as a casualty, but I don't sit around bitching and complaining about it.
2. I have a problem with most foreigners with idealogical thinking patterns. Acting like they are the model of a "good citizen", belonging to causes and such, taking unfair jabs at certain policies when they already have their own problems, etc.
I just think that maybe Barbara should keep the broken record to herself. I mean, it would be different if she actually came to the table with some sort of rational idea, instead of the same tired rhetoric. Hey, her other non-political posts are great! But anytime we venture into the political forum, it's always the same old tripe.
And you all got a hell of a good German Microwave joke!

I was wondering the other day, if I ran for president, what would be my campaign promises?
I made a list I'm certain can get me elected.
If I'm elected president, I will…
Require members of Congress to work out on the Total Gym 15 minutes each day – or else they can't vote on anything.
Cut spending by dismissing the Secret Service, at least for my eight years in office (why would I need them?).
Resurrect Bruce Lee and appoint him head of homeland security (OK, the CIA and FBI too).
Give a presidential pardon to … no one, ever. Baretta was right in the '70s, "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time. Don't do it!"
Turn the Rose Garden into a new fighting ring for the World Combat League, in which liberals and conservatives will fight for legislative leadership and priority. (For fun, Saturday night fights will feature a recurring bout between Hannity and Colmes). "American Idol" already told me they will provide the entertainment.
Require Bill Gates and Warren Buffet to personally pay for national, comprehensive medical coverage for every American (or meet me in the Rose Garden).
Increase jobs in America by sending ninja teams to sabotage and steal them back from other countries.
Tattoo an American flag with the words, "In God we trust," on the forehead of every atheist.
Give a tax credit to anyone naming their children Walker or Texas Ranger (excluding Will Farrell).
Resolve the Iraq war by bringing all of our military personnel home immediately, then going over there by myself for "martial arts negotiations."
Hang Saddam Hussein (Whoops – scratch that – already did it undercover).
Convey my plan for world peace to the United Nations: taking the governor of California with me on our "kick butt and ask questions later" USO world tour.
Give every new military enlistee abroad a copy of my upcoming new book, "The Threat of Justice," with the words, "Arnold and I will be back to pump you up!" above my autograph.
Bring on Donald Trump as my apprentice. When my presidential term is complete and he has obtained his black belt, or whichever comes first, he can buy the White House and of course rename it (to, what else, "The Trump House").
Create new immigration legislation: to deport all liberals (then force them to listen to Bill O' Reilly every day for five years, at which point they may return).
Ask producer Mark Barnett to film "Survivor – Camp David," where world leaders will meet annually, for an all-out cage-fighting championship. The winner will take home $1,000,000 in Disney Dollars, good in Europe or America.
Send an autographed photo of me and my horse (no dogs in my White House) to everyone who commits to read my new WorldNetDaily "presidential column" and blast a blog who dares to disagree with me.
Complete the plan to bring Tony Blair to the U.S. as my vice president.
Expose the real WMDs – my fists and feet.
Replace Letterman, Leno or Conan once monthly, since stand-up comedy is what most governmental officials do anyway.
Ask Al Gore to provide me with a special governmental study on the connection between spotted owl extinction and global warming. (I'm pretty sure Michael Moore will film the docudrama).
Help Rosie transition from "The View" to the pew – it might help her get over that anger problem. If the pew doesn't work, she can spar Trump in the Rose Garden.
First and foremost, however, my greatest priorities will be to …
Personally smoke out bin Laden by myself and round-house kick him all the way back to America, where my United Fighting Arts Federation

Microwave, you want to have a logical debate about something dealing with politics, and then you say that Chuck Norris says that he's voting for Huckabee, so therefore that is who the next President is going to be? Forgive me if I seem a bit confused, but where is the logic in that? If it was meant to be a joke, it was a bad one. And if you are being serious, that is even more sad. First off, I can already tell you who is going to win the Republican nomination for President, and it won't be Huckabee. It's going to be Guliani, and you can take that to the bank. So in this case, Mr. Norris (whom you seem to idolize) is going to be proven sadly mistaken.
To answer your charges:
1) Yeah, I heard that four years ago.
Remember, the last time we got "sick" of republicans, we voted in some guy that got impeached!
You cannot use the argument of what happened four years ago for now, for a couple of different reasons. The first and most important of these is that the numbers are completely different. The approval rating of Congress and President Bush at that point was approximately 52%, coming off the arrest of Saddam Hussein which of course gave him a huge boost in ratings. Since that time, we have had Hurricane Katrina, an essential tabling of any kind of Immigration Reforms, the failure of his Social Security Privatization idea, and a troop surge that has been roundly pronounced a failure, both by people opposed to the war and those actively involved in fighting the war. His current approval rating is at approximately 36%. This is quite a difference from the nearly half of the country's approval he had when he defeated Kerry.
(http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-presapp0605-31.html) Another key reason you cannot use 2004 as a valid argument here is that he still had Republican support in 2004. But since it is an election year, and with his image progressively getting worse, even the staunch Republicans are abandoning ship. The Republican party has consistently favored smaller government, less government interference, less taxes and less expenditures by the government at the federal level (These are the views of the Republican party as a whole). Yet under Bush there has been a major increase in the scope of the government (Basically the Patriot Act, but another example of traditionally non-federally supportable programs under the views of Republicans include The No Child Left Behind Act) and the Bush Administration has greatly increased the cost of government; take for example his recent veto of the Child Care Health Reform. He says that we cannot afford the money for it, but he spends millions on defense contractors! Under his guidance, contracting out of government services has increased at alarming rates with equally alarming results (Blackwater) that include greater costs and "Hollow Government" or the complete inability of the government to control the methods by which those they contract with do the job. He has also managed to completely destroy the executive budgeting process; the typical process of the OMB (Office of Budget Management) helping to craft a budget with the legislature to be voted on, approved and then passed on to the President for approval has completely gone out of the window. Bush has funded everything through the War Powers Act, which gives him the ability to ask for more money in times of national crisis to put to whatever he wants. Think about the last time you heard of a budgeting meeting for the federal government and a federal budget being approved...it's been since 2001. Sure, he will still be able to count on the votes of the Christian Conservative segment of the Republican party, but they are only the noisy minority within the Republican party. Fiscal and Political conservatives are equally disgusted at this HUGE increase in government since he has taken office, and he will not be able to count on their votes; and they are the

I think I never called Bush an idiot, it would be underestimating him
I did not get fired up about Merkel, I think she is awful. She is not a Communist but a so called "Christian Democrat". When the former German government refused to join the "war on terror" in Iraq Merkel, who was the leader of the opposition at the time, flew to Washington to tell Bush how sorry she was about that. But then, you are not interested in facts, are you?
Too bad you think my position is unfounded - you still won't shut me up. Maybe it's a good exercise for you to have to tolerate an unwanted opinion.

2) I'm 25% Washoe Indian, so:
OK...so you have the right grandmother (or grandfather) to give you a QUARTER of Native American blood. Therefore you have the complete right to consider yourself a victim (another word for casualty). Now I realize that my math is atrocious, but the last time I checked, 25% of anything was less than the majority...less than half. This means 75% of you is something else that is Non-Native American, and therefore the majority of you is Non-Native. Therefore you a not a victim. Simple matter of proportions. Sorry, but that's the way math works. You may be able to get money from the state and federal government for having the right grandmother or grandfather, but that does not make you a victim of anything...it makes you the lucky recipient of a centuries long guilt trip.
As for the rest of it, complete and utter rubbish. You say that you consider yourself a victim but don't "sit around and bitching and complaining about it" but you are more than welcome to point out your victimhood status when it serves your purposes, aren't you? You dislike people who are acting like the model of a "good citizen, belonging to causes and such" when you three sentences prior had just identified yourself as a member of the Native American cause!! Your hypocrisy is amazing. Absolutely amazing and astounding to me. Did you honestly not see it when you typed it?
So you think that Barbra should keep her "broken record to herself"? OK...well if she can't express her opinions, neither can you. Fair is fair, after all. You complain that she never says anything different, but neither do you. You sit at your computer spewing off the same ignorant opinions to anyone willing to listen...the exact same thing you confuse her of doing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a forum like this a place to discuss differing opinions on things? Stuff is bound to be repeated, and that doesn't make it wrong.
But one thing that I have noticed about you since I have been on this forum is that you are the "Ugly American" that causes all the problems. You are fiercely proud of being an American, and there is nothing wrong with that. But you are the ugly kind that take it to the point where "America is the best country in the world and everyone else can F*ck off!" I'm here to tell you right now that we are not the only country on the planet, and we are not even the best country on the planet either. No country is the best country on the planet...we all have our issues. Patriotism is fine, but do you have to be such an arrogant prick about it? It is people like you that make it so difficult for those of us who travel abroad...we have to spend our time trying to explain why there are people like you in our country and proving to them that we are not one of them.
You also appear to really have an issue with the fact that Barb is German. Let me tell you what I have learned via my international travels and contacts, specifically about Germany. First off, again, Hitler was Austrian, not German. So if you are going to have an issue with that, take it up with Austria. Second, there is a wonderful student in the history department this year named Marko from the University of Jena (former east Germany) that I am very close to. We have talked about things like this, and I can tell you what I know from personal experience:
1) Marko is just about the best person I have met in a long time. He has a wonderful sense of humor, is incredibly understanding and always willing to help you ou
But you are the ugly kind that take it to the point where "America is the best country in the world and everyone else can F*ck off!"
