He recorded those vocals almost a year before passing away. He then went to record other tracks as well. Still, I agree it is a very good performance, one of his best. He had sang higher notes but that particular line in that particular song made it more special.

When was Mother Love recorded, by the way? I think I saw a sheet in the Champions of the World documentary that had May 10th 1991 on it but also there's a version saying that Freddie recorded until about two weeks before passing away.

Also, have you noticed a sylabe of Brian's singing in the "I'VE walked along in this lonely lane" part in Mother Love? I think we discussed that years ago but maybe some of the newer members haven't noticed it.

imagine footage of freddie when he is recording "i face it with a grin...." in the studio! that would be the most awesome thing i could ever see in my life.
as a song-writer, i think you need to re-evaluate your own definition of "awesome"...
the grand canyon is awesome, the pyramids at Giza are awesome, the taj mahal is awesome, the northern lights are awesome, space travel is awesome....a man wasting away to a premature death racked with pain and unable to stand for periods of time is NOT awesome
i know, i didnt mean it like that of course, i love freddie and of course its incredibly sad. I meant it would be an amazing thing to see him singing those lines.

I sure hope there's footage of Freddie's last words "pee pee". That would be amazing to see. Let's hope they'll include it on the 30th anniversary release of Made In Heaven!
I rather see a naked Bretlie replacing Spike than this, actually.
John: "It's the one thing I wish I could do - sing."

As the last verse of the song demonstrates, there's next to no chance that Brian could double that effectively for Freddie.
Freddie's voice was changing all the time anyhow, especially from '86 onwards.

As for when Mother Love was recorded ; from all the quotes I can add up in my head, it seems that Mother Love and A Winter's Tale overlapped in the recording process, and that the last thing Freddie did was for A Winter's Tale, at Metropolis Studios (and not Montreaux).

But you know; it's incredibly hard to get a straight answer on the subject of when his last vocal was laid down. I guess we could all ask a certain guitarist. Even if it wound up being April the 1st 1990, I'd still be impressed - Freddie was in terrible shape even then, and they're killer vocals.
I know the exact date when freddie sang the last line for mother love.

The singing went with about 2 lines a dauy and the recording ended 9 november 1991 with freddie his health on zero and his body weight about 35-40kilo,s
